Hello everyone

I got lots done yesterday.  I cleaned really good, not that it was dirty....I just wanted it to be extra clean.  I found out that the City of Joliet does yearly inspections on apartments.  So I will have people in my apartment Monday.  I guess the point of the inspection is to make sure there are no fire code violations but the property manager can/will nail you for cleanliness issues and broken items...so on, and you can get fined.  But I like this because if there are dirty nasty people here then fine them and make them mad and maybe they will move out!!!  Any way...me being weirdly anal, knowing people are going to be here I am going room by room and dusting and wiping down everything.

So I was thinking the other day with Randy's statement about how he takes public transportation in part to help decrease his carbon footprint.  I was thinking how we as a group really do our part.  I mean with Christine walking back an forth to work and Sharon making her cleaning products, and Dawn with her new venture with clean pure products.  Those of us that search out organic, antibiotic free, local food.  Those of you that have veggie gardens.  Those of us that shop thrift stores and garage sales.  And million other things we do....Bravo to us!!!  Amanda would be happy.  Though if I know her she would start pointing out where we could make more changes...hahaha!!!!

Well today I am working out and going out to lunch and to the Mall.  That is my day....what will your day be like???

Well have a good day all...see ya later...bye

I am gleeful because the sun is shining. It's surprising how that one thing effects how we feel.

The birds are ravenous. I cannot keep my bird-feeder full in this snowy weather. Last night we went to Gene and Judes for hotdogs and since fries come with the dogs and we cant eat them, I brought them home and dumped a giant bag of fries under one of our trees about 10 pm. This morning when I went out to get the paper they were all eaten.

I have a big garden of veggies in the summer. I cannot wait to get my hands in the dirt and start the spring cleaning. My rose bushes are looking big and wild. I am going to have to cut those down as well. I've never done it before. But with the weather last year they grew ginormous and are higher than my garage?!?

Crystal, I have to tell ya; I know so many amazing young, beautiful women who are single and cannot find decent men. I dont know what has happened to our world. Yesterday in church, there were so many lovely ladies who are at least 30 who have never married and were talking about waiting on God to find a decent man. I am glad I am an old married lady. It is hard to meet one's mate these days.

Today is our busy day. We have church this morning and our Dave Ramsey Finance class this evening. I still have homework to do for that class as well.

Have a great day Peeps!

Sharon

Sharon-  I know...I have a way of attracting all the wrong people.  That married guy at work is still flirting with me and I'm still ignoring him.  I would turn him in but he has 5 kids...who would I be hurting???  I shouldn't feel bad though at least I'm not the poor woman he's married to.

As for the guy upstairs...I just can't seem to stay away or stop thinking/talking about him...I just can't help it.  I think he is my new addiction...hahaha!!!  Well at least he won't make me fat...like cookies.

Rick turned me on to Gene and Judes.  I could not believe how they put the fries on the hot dogs!  But they are good hot dogs.

Good Morning,

I am doing some stuff today, such as laundry, making the bed, cleaning up the living/rec room, and I am making veggie soup.

I woke up this morning thinking of homemade soup. I think this was caused by finishing a pot of chili yesterday. Ok, no logic there.

Sharon, I love listening to the Dave Ramsey Show. I wished we had known he had  his classes coming to the Chicago area. My husband would of enjoyed them.

BTW, husbands and boyfriends in denial, aren't they always?

Tomorrow I will be making a couple of phone calls. One to set up up the yearly mammo, and the other to the lung dr. Hopefully  St. Alexis will call with the date for the nutrishenist.

HUGS,

LISA

Sounds like an attempt at illegal search and seizure to me.

I am personally fond of open doors and of closed doors being at my discretion.

Went to freegeek for an opengov hack yesterday and heard all kinds of other languages(computer speak).  Someone mentioned a bicycle cooperative.  I will have to check that out.  A lot of my bus trips could be bicycle trips.  I guess I will make my goal to be buying a bike, helmet and patch kit for about the price of a monthly bus pass.

I am cooked up for the week having made another pot of soup Friday.  The freezers are now stocked with cooked soups, gumbo and my ex mil's recipe for oven cooked brisket.  Still have at least one or two meals from leftovers and five or six meals worth of meats and veggies in there that would create ten to twelve more leftover meals.

So you have been forgiven?

exactly what is being searched or seized?

It's not like they are through my drawers and personal items???  They are coming in checking to make sure the detectors work and make sure of things like...nothing is blocking the vents or doorways...things like that.  And the management is coming with just because they should to note any violations.  But if there is any issues with excessive sloppiness (we're talking bad enough that it could cause bugs or a fire hazard) the management is going to say something...also if they notice a cabinet door is broke they are going to say something.  Again they aren't going though your stuff drawers...it's a walk through.

And they aren't seizing anything...and if they do I will be calling the police because that's theft!!!!

Hello Everyone!

I have to get moving soon to get the shopping done.  I am like Sharon, when the sun is out I am happy. But I did do a double look at my computer this morning when my weather bug program was trying to tell me it was 87 degrees outside.  Not that I would mind 87 degree temps but when there is now on the ground those two things do not compute! kiss   Then reality set in and it is 35 degrees outside.    Where did the 87 degrees go to.

Crystal, I am not sure how I would feel about apartment inspections by the city.  That seems a little invasive.  I guess if they were trying to prevent slum loards I would be for it.  It just seems strange.

Sharon, I have had piggy birds before.  I couldnt believe how much they would eat.  Now I have piggy cats outside.  Some tradeoff.  I too love Dave Ramsey.  His classes would be awesome.

Lisa, soup is always so good in the winter.  Enjoy yours!

Randy a bike might be nice to have.  Then you can dodge all those cars.  But you might miss the heat in the winter time.  Hmmm.

Everyone have a great day.

Nancy- I think when it comes to fire safety I won't mind.  When you live in an apartment building you live with other people hoping they are being as safe as you....changing their smoke detector batteries...not having any blatant fire hazards.  I remember the first time I decided to get renters insurance...I was living in Evergreen Park and these people on the bottom floor had kids and the kids were playing with candles...that were lit!!!  I mean I told the mother and there's only so much I can do.  But decided I wasn't going to lose everything I worked so hard for because of her and her kids.

Anyway I guess I don't mind the city coming in and making sure there are no fire safety issues.  And as far as the property manager coming in with them and siting you for cleanliness...I say good.  I don't want other peoples roaches!!!  Plus I worked for a property management company any time anyone goes into your apartment at any time for any issue...believe me they are looking for other things too...do they have cats when they aren't supposed to...that sort of thing.  They don't poke around but if there's a kitty litter box sitting there...duh!!!  You know how many people we caught sneaking animals into their apartments illegally because they called for maintenance.

My mom lived in a high-rise building for seniors in Oak Brook before she got ill and had to move in with us. My mama was a clean freak, and so whenever the management wanted to show an apartment to a prospective renter they showed my mom's. She used to love it. One day she noticed something crawling in her bathroom......a bug? Yep a roach. i thought she was going to have a heart attack. Well when she called management they had a bug guy come out pronto and spray. When they went into her next door neighbor's house it was a hoarder's dream with filth everywhere. It was after that they began monthly inspections. My first thought was "this is illegal??". My mom's first thought was, "awesome". Within 3 months they began proceedings to get rid of 3 renters due to filth. One was my mom's best friend down the hall. My mom started cleaning her friends apartment so she could stay.

One of the renter's family members was a lawyer and wrote management a letter to stop unlawful inspections or they would be sued. It turned out it was legal because it was a HUD building. Yep, there are HUD buildings in Oak Brook.

It was later that the management started offering house-keeping to dwellers for a small fee.

Is it bad or is it good? I am not sure.........

Hugs,

Sharon
