Friday Roll Call
Lisa- I agree. Back when my ex was still a half way decent guy and we were broke, broke, broke. I woke up one Valentines day to homemade card that simply said follow the signs....there was a little trail of index cards with little arrows leading to the back balcony (that looked out on to the court yard of the apartment complex). There was a cute colorful sign on the patio window that said open me and look down...and when I did...I was surprised to see that he had gotten up early and wrote "I love you with all my heat" in giant letters in the snow...and used my red food coloring to draw little hearts every where...it took up the whole court yard!!!
I think it was sweetest and best gift he ever gave me. And it was the talk of the complex. All the women were asking who the romantic guy was that did it. Hahahaha!!!
Good Afternoon!
Well it has been an interesting 24 hours for me. Last night Rick took me out for dinner. When we returned, we could not find Gizmo. We checked the whole house and kept calling for him inside an out. Smokey was moping for his buddy as well. This morning I decided to stay home and go into a full search mode for Gizmo. We put up about 50 posters and called all the agencies about a lost cat. About 2:30 when I sat down from calling him for the umpteenth time, Gizmo strolls by. I dont know if he snuck back in or was hiding out in the basement this entire time. BAD KITTY! Now we have to make the same phone calls to let them know the lost has been found and drive around and take down the posters we put up! Sigh. I am glad he is safe but honestly he could have spared us this drama.
Yesterday Rick surprised me by sending me roses to work. They are beautiful. What touched me more was the note he had attached. It was so loving it brought tears to my eyes. We started out for dinner at Red Lobster last night but they were packed so we ended up at a tavern in Utica IL that has the best chicken and ribs. We have leftovers galore!
No special plans for the weekend.
Everyone have a great day!

Crystal,
I am totally opposite from you with food. My theory is that if I haven't tasted it yet then I need to taste it. This week I've had Cajun roasted baby back alligator ribs and sweet potatoes with bourbon, roasted beets and brussels sprouts. Last night we had three cheeses we'd never tasted before, a boucheron, a gouta (gouda made with goat milk) and another. I also had smoked shrimp, and an arugula salad with a fried egg on top. We taste these meals as tasting portions which are just a few bites. Every thing was incredibly wonderful. I would eat any of these again in a full portion. On the cruises we each order whatever we haven't tasted before.
All the restaurants we frequent use only local foods (except for fish which would be impossible and gross). We never eat in chain restaurants. When those lists are posted on Facebook "how many of these have you tasted".I usually score in the 90's. I consider all of this an adventure and since we are supposed to eat protein, trying frog legs, rabbit and alligator is just more protein!
Today I forgot to post because I slept late and didn't get dressed until after lunch. I did read all morning and knit this afternoon. I just started another shawl. I have to post a picture of what I did today to get the nest page of the pattern. This is what it looks like:
