First Tuesday of 2013 Roll Call
Happy New Year
I am happy the Fiscal Blah Blah Blah has been fixed. It's a relief to know I will not be falling down any cliffs anytime soon.
I am pleased at how many feel so excited about a new beginning. Many of my friends feel so hopeful about 2013 and that makes me feel hopeful too. I usually feel like it's just another day, but so many called me yesterday speaking about the new beginnings and how great 2013 is going to be. Hope they are right.
Today we are going to my brother's in St Charles. It will be a low key, wear your pajamas/sweats kind of day. My sister in law is bohemian and we will have her traditional New Year's duck with sauerkraut and dumplings.
Yesterday people told me to eat grapes, herring, black eyed peas, long noodles, pork and greens. I think it is hysterical that cultures have a food that is supposed to bring abundance in the new year. Why not, do 10 pushup or walk a mile at the stroke of midnight????? LOL.
We went to see Les Miserables yesterday. My husband snored and i sobbed. I sobbed for 2+ hours. It was a beautiful sad movie. We went to the first show and I had a swollen face for the rest of the day from crying. I had no idea the movie would effect me like that. There is such beauty in goodness. I thought it was a musical. Wrong! It's an opera. Had I known, I probably would have skipped it. It is hands down the most beautiful movie I have ever seen.
I am glad the holidays are almost over. As much as Crystal worked out, that is how much i did not. I am terrified I let life get in the way of my needs. I know that sounds weird, but i only made it to the gym once this week and I am not happy with that. I look forward to going back to my 5 day a week schedule.
Have a great day everybody.
Happy New Year!
Sharon
Happy 2013 to All,
I did see the Dr yesterday about my legs. She is setting me up for some doppler testing later this month. Just the way we want to start the new year.
Sharon, Hubert would do the same thing. But, I am glad you enjoyed it. Men just don't get it.
We went out for dinner last night. The Pines Supper Club, here in Streator. It has wood paneling, and deer heads, pictures of different patrons ect. If you didn't know any better, you would think you were in Wisconsin. BTY, I had grilled salmon, baked potato juice and salad. I brought 1/2 the fish home, and left most of the potato. It was great. Oh yes, we were home by 9.
No plans for today. Hubert said something about going to the casino in Rock Island. Nothing for sure yet.
Hugs,
LISA
Hello everyone
I ended up going to a friend's house for New Years. It is just 4 miles from my house...and we had lots of fun. We laughed so muc and ate wayyyy too much. So people drink too much...I eat. I will be in the gym today...maybe I will go twice for all the calories I consumed last night (and people who are not serious and just making resolutions just get out of my way!!!). Lord, I ate chips, and dips, and ice cream!!!
I came home around 2 am and went to bed about and hour later. Today I have no big plans...no plans at all. There is a Walking Dead marathon I will be watching.
When I think of how much my life has changed since last year (for the good)...I have a different job, different place to live, Amanda is in Peru...I am happy and content. Considering that I did lose my job and have to move in 2012. Things could have turned out a lot worse. I think all and all 2012 was a good year. May 2013 be a even better (yea I am being greedy).
Have a great first day of the new year....see ya later...bye
is where I would like to be this morning. We went to early after our day at the cardiologist, a stop at Trader Joe's and jumping off the 66 to take the Brown Line because the 66 was getting filled up with young and strange ones.
Got two frozen Chinese entrees, flax chips, rep pepper soup, extra melatonin, three layer hummus, fresh salsa and champagne.
We made eggs and Jalepenos with chive and onion cream cheese so we are set for munching today.
I forgot to include that we have thick cut rib eyes and plenty of veggies to cook up today as well. Plus Cheryl has a hankering to make gumbo but I do not think we have enough onions so we will see.
Happy New Year!
It is now 2013. Wow last year flew by. It is supposed to be a great year. The job market is supposed to open up, hopefully the economy will keep growing now that the fiscal cliff is behind us. Who knows what this year will bring.
I closed out the old year with the loss of one of my cousins. She had not been in good health but was only 70. My sister and I are coming to the realization that this is now going to be coming more often. It is sad and brings our mortality more into focus. That is not something you look at very often. I did have one cousin die 9 years ago but that was of a heart attack and though he was young, it is not uncommon. Now we are all getting up there. Ugh!
Today Rick and I are taking lunch and serving it to our homeless shelter. They were looking for help for today and I asked Rick if he wanted to go and he agreed. When I called they asked if we were bringing lunch. After a moments hesitation we said yes and are making soup and sandwiches, carrots, cookies etc. That should be fun.
Afterwards we will come home. No other plans for today. Tomorrow it is back to work.
I wish each of you only the best for this coming year. May Dawn and Sharon find new jobs. May Kay get those darn fistulas healed, may Lisa and Chris get her health in good shape, may Randy and Cheryl get their health issues solved as well,, may Crystal get the courage to talk to the hot guy, and Steven get more relief from his arthritis, and may Karen get some heatlh insurance and relief from her band problems.

Happy New Year's!
We had a lovely time in Madison with shopping at a knitting store, visiting Olbrich Gardensand dinner at Eno Vino, overnight at the Hilton.
Today I want to watch Wisconsin in the Rose Bowl and then NIU in the Orange Bowl. And, of course, knit all the way through!
Have a great day and a wonderful New Year!

Happy New Year, OH Friends!
I, too, had a fairly quiet night. Chloe was here and Betty has been staying overnight at my house since her husband works nights and he doesn't want her to stay by herself yet. So, I made "spaghetti pie" for dinner and we all managed to stay up until 11 and celebrate the New Year with New York, then we went to bed. I vaguely remember hearing fireworks, must have been midnight in the neighborhood!
I wish you all the best for 2013. I have been off work since the Saturday before Christmas, so instead of staying up late and waking up late, will have to go back to my 10 pm bedtime and 4:52 am wake up time! I could get used to this being off thing.
Chloe had a cold and her grandpa and I have both managed to catch it. I've felt pretty awful! Luckily Bet hasn't caught it...yet. I'm sure she has a lot of residual antibiotics in her from her illness that are hopefully protecting her!
Healthy and Happy New Year to you all!
