Wednesday Roll Call
Good Morning Everyone!
Happy Hump Day!
I am counting down the remainder of the week. I laughed when someone was talking about time off next week and I asked how did you manage that and he replied that it's Christmas. I totally forgot that I have Monday and Tuesday off so I am looking forward to a long weekend. Can you tell we have been busy when I dont even know what day it is?
I found a wonderful idea on the news last night. It is 26 acts of kindness in memory of those who lost their lives at the Sandy Hook school in Newtown CT. I went out last night and bought 26 pairs of gloves/mittens and 26 wool hats to take to our local school today. Many of the kids do not have hats or gloves in the winter. Over 501% of our elementary school kids live in poverty. I will drop these off at school today. I think this is a great way to remember the victims. 26 random acts of kindness. Anyone else in?
Tonight I want to get my new cell phone connected. I switched cell phone services. Other than that, not much else is planned.
I hope Chris and Sharon feel better today.
Crystal, I dont know what I would do working for a company that feeds me constantly. Enjoy. At least you can save on grocery bills.
Have a great day everyone!

Wow, what an amazing group of people in this forum; food pantries, mittens, gifts to host families......and who knows what else!?What an amazing group of loving folks you all are. That is what Jesus and Christmas is all about.
I have been trying to get in touch with a social worker at a local "group home" that house a family of 3 kids who's dad is in prison.I learned about them thru Angel Tree Ministries. It breaks my heart that a 14, 12 and 8 year old live like this. My daughter called me and told me I could not give my grand-babies the gifts i bought them. She stated I needed to discuss with her what I would buy them and a walking doll and Fischer price toys are not acceptable. She also informed me I would not see them for the holidays but could drop off the gifts between 11 a and 12 p any day this week.
I decided to take everything back and use the money on little children who's parents would not mind what I bought for them for Christmas.
I am blessed to know you all.
Have a great day!
Hugs,
Sharon
Hello IL!
I know I have been MIA, but it has been a very rough few months…almost three to be exact. I’ll try to make this a brief as possible to bring you up to date. My dear friend, Bet (Chloe’s grandma) has been very ill. She has been in the hospital(s) since Sept 27th. What was first diagnosed as pneumonia, turned into a diagnosis of Legionnaire’s disease on Oct. 1. She has been life threateningly ill. She spent All of October in ICU in Kankakee in a medically induced coma. When they would try to bring her out, all of her numbers would go wild. I can’t tell you how many times the doctors told us she was not going to make it. We had a lot of prayers and people praying for her going around. She was on a feeding tube, ventilator, had a trache put in…any place they could put a tube, she had one. Her husband spent mornings at the hospital (he works nights) and I would go each night after work. Another dear friend filled in afternoons most of the time. Fast Forward to the end of October. The goal was to try and get her stable enough to send to RML rehab hospital in Hinsdale to get her off the ventilator support, if possible. She had to meet a lot of medical criteria before she would qualify to go. If she didn’t….well, it wasn’t a good outcome. Truly by the grace of God, she started responding on Oct 29 and on the 31st, she was off the meds she needed to be, meeting the breathing requirements in order to transfer her with the ventilator, etc. She was at RML for 28 days. They were able to get her off the ventilator, take out her feeding tube and she was off oxygen. Truly a miracle. Time to transfer her back to the physical therapy rehab unit at the Kankakee hospital. She has now been there since November 27th. They have been doing intense physical and occupational therapy. She is coming back very strong! Her mind is great and her physical strength is good…so good in fact, she is coming home TOMORROW. She will continue therapy and have home health care. The doctors had all told us her lungs would be scarred from the Legionnaires and the respiratory distress and it would be probably a year before there was much of an improvement in her chest xrays. Well, God has touched her. She had a chest xray and the results were “essentially NORMAL” which no one ever expected. You know when a doctor is bringing people in your room to see “my miracle patient” that it is truly a miracle. Sorry this is so long. I just wanted to fill you in and wish you all a very blessed Christmas and a wonderful 2013. I have kept up on reading your postings and many times you have brought a smile to my face. God bless you all! georgie
Georgie,
What a difficult 3 months. It had to be extremely hard, and emotionally and physically exhausting. I am so happy to hear that Bet is making a strong recovery and is getting to come home. We have missed you on the boards. I wondered where you were but knew you had to have a good reason. Make sure you give yourself ample time to rest and relax over the holidays and get your own energy back up to speed! May you have a very Merry Christmas.

I have been busy with baking for the kids on the bus. Never thought I would see the end of all the cookies I baked. I really hate to bake and now I remember why. My kids all loved it though so that's what maters.
I had a friend to pass away at 12:30 this morning, she came down with bad tummy aches and other upset tummy troubles over the summer. She was told she had irritable bowel syndrome. She had started to show some improvement with the meds and then in October she was rushed back to the ER, and this diagnosis came back as cancer. It apparently started out as ovarian cancer and by the time it was found it was everywhere. She is at peace now!
But on a happy note, I have not had any issues since Dr Rosen seen me earlier this month. No heartburn at all.
I was to go back and see him on the 26th but my hubby will be home and I refuse to be in the car with hin=m for 2 and half hours there and then the 2 and half back home, not happening! I will reschedule tomorrow.
Since he will be home tomorrow I will just be lurking here for a few days!
Stay safe tomorrow if you get the snow being called for!
