Wow! It's happened again. One of my friends on OH from another state said "if I had to have a psych eval to have a band, why don't people have to have an eval to own a gun. I've always been mixed on gun ownership, but what teacher needs assault rifles? We need to do SOMETHING about the culture of violence. My heart just breaks for all those families! This will be the worst Christmas for that whole town!

From someone that just obtained a FOID card and plans on buying a gun...I would have had no problems going through a psych evaluation to obtain my FOID card.  I agree that there should be stricter guidelines for gun ownership and this comes from someone that actually is pro-gun.  I don't see how it can hurt and why people fight it so hard.  But I also believe that a person bent on obtaining a gun will do so...because it's the law abiding citizens like myself that go through the trouble of obtaining one legally...the criminals and crazies will still get them one way or another doesn't matter whether it's legal or not...kind of like drugs.  But again I tend to be a pessimistic person..at least that's what Amanda says.

The problem is the crazies are getting them from their parent's gun closets and taking them to public places like schools and killing innocent children.  It started with Columbine and here we are 13 years later and it is clearly getting worse not better. Having a gun did not save or protect Adam Lanza's mother.She is dead inspite of having atleast 6 guns in her possession.  Her right to bear arms caused 20+ people to be annihilated while they were innocently sitting in school!

If our fore-fathers could have foreseen how their second amendment would be used in today's society, I think there would not have been a second amendment written the way it was. And why was the law written in the first place? To kill the "savages". Those savages were peaceful people until Europeans came to their country and annihilated it. 

I feel very strongly that people have the right to protect themselves in their own homes, but with multiple semi-automatic weapons??? Psyche evals are not the answer either. Adam Lanza used his mother's guns. She probably was not insane.

Countries that do not have any guns have a very low murder rate.

I'm sad.
