Not sure if I need to get into a support group or just get deeper into my own support system and bury my head in Interactive Python.

What are the rest of us doing?

Randy

So you have been forgiven?

Hi Randy,

So good to see you today!

Hello Illinois,

Good to see the OH site up-and-adam again.

It is going to be a mild weekend and we are busy. We have dinner and a holiday concert at Truth Restaurant tonight. A holiday party tomorrow night in St Charles and I am hopefully going to see my daughter on Sunday for lunch for her birthday.

I have to get a tree soon too. I either go and chop one or get a tree with a ball root to plant in the spring. This year I am cutting one down. I also will try to do some baking.

Enjoy this unseasonable warm weather...hopefully we will see some sun too.

Blessings and hugs,

Sharon

Sharon- my daughter has an Environmental Science degree and she told me it's more environmentally friendly to get a fresh cut tree than a artificial tree.  A lot of people think it's the other way around.  But she says because of the the heavy use of petroleum to make the artificial trees...it makes the artificial trees very unfriendly to the environment.  Not to mention when you finally thrown them out they are not biodegradable.  Just thought I would throw that in there.  I think my daughter was telling me this to get me to change to fresh cut trees but...I hate fresh cut trees.

Fresh cut trees rock in my world! I know some people have allergies so I understand why they need to get an artificial tree. We do have a couple artificial trees (3' & 8') that we have had for years. One of them is in the 3 season room and I leave it up all year decorated. It has a nice glow when we use it during the summer when we sit out there and watch TV. Now, all the pre lit trees and other electronics needs to be properly recycled which is a fantastic thing. We have a village wide "green day" annually and then after Christmas there is a collection box at the Village Hall for bad light strings (in addition to used battery collection). They collect so much stuff at the green day. I was amazed. Used fabrics, batteries, electronics, drugs (legal drugs!), paper-sensitive documents (shred on site for you), gently used toys & clothing to give away, car waste products (oils/fluids & batteries) etc. You drive through with your trunk or hatch open and they unload it for you. Anyone can go to it as they really do not check your residency. It is usually the first Saturday in May every year.

A few years ago we downsized the size of our fresh tree and we now only get about a 3-4' tree. I used to spend close to a week decorating our almost 8+' tree and I said this is nuts! Now it only takes me about 2 evenings to put on the lights and ornaments and I am done!

Hello everyone

I had so much to say yesterday and couldn't post...hahaha

The stockings that Monica and I made for everyone went over really well.  We also did some decorating.  It must have caught on because when I came in yesterday they had the tree up and going to be decorating that...and a bunch of other decorations.  So I started to help.  One of the other girls came up to me and said "thanks to you and Monica we are finally having Christmas here again...we haven't decorated here in a couple years" and I said really why??  And she said no one really felt like until you and Monica came along...So that made me feel good.  We gave everyone the Christmas spirit!!!

I found out that I have 12 hours of vacation time I have to use before the end of the year or lose it.  And the closer to the end of the year we get the more hectic it gets, so it's better to take the time now.  So I'm going to see if I can take a 1/2 day today.  I have a bunch of running around to do and I have to stop off at the library too.  And I want to get a workout in too.  So a 1/2 day would be nice...because fitting all of this after 5pm is always hard...and I  usually don't get done till almost 11pm or later.

I better get going everone...it will be nice out, enjoy...see ya later..bye

This morning at about 11 we will take the train down to the Loop, stop in and see a girl we know at one of the restaurants in Union Station and chat with her (she lives locally to us-met her years ago before she was married and had kids) and then take a cab over to the Holiday Mart and check in. Later on this afternoon we will walk over to the Christkindle Market and wander around the stalls, get our hot spiced wine in the boot, maybe share some Goulash soup and then later on in the evening we will pick out another restaurant that we have not gone to in the past for dinner.

That is about it for us in a nutshell today. Tomorrow is the concert at Moody Church. We will take a cab to Moody Bible Institute and then they have transportation from there to the church. After the concert we will more than likely eat in the Lincoln Park area or wander into Old Town which is right there (either of the areas). Decisions, decisions. We are also thinking of seeing the Zoo Lights at Lincoln Park Zoo. The one time in the past that we went to see them it was so freakn' cold with the wind chill that we did not enjoy it except if we went into one of the animal houses - phew! Especially the cat house.

Good morning!

I thought I was up early but all of you are earlier! I might do some shopping today or maybe some knitting (surprise!). We will go out to dinner somewhere tonight, but don't have any specific plans.

Tomorrow we are going to a Christmas concert at a local church with some friends. We started doing many of the local performances a few years ago and it really adds to the Christmas experience.

Have a great day!

Connie

Good Morning Everyone!

Did yesterday happen?  It went by so fast.  I left home yesterday morning at 6:30 and got home at 9:00 last night.  In the meantime, I went to work, had a long dentist appointment and took Rick some things.  He got put in the hospital yesterday.  His blood pressure and blood sugar were sky high and he has a nasty infection on his leg that I have not liked how it is healing.  Finally his doctor admitted that he needed STRONG antibiotics so the have him on IV"S and the infection has gone down tremendously in just a day.

My tail is dragging this morning.  I still need to take some sick days but I do not have any.

Randy, Python would probably have me crazy by now.  I would have to borrow your brain or have a brain transplant!

Sharon, it sounds like you have some fun plans for the next few days.  Enjoy them.  Do you do the chopping of the tree or your hubby?

Chris, have fun down in the city!  That sounds like such a delightful weekend!  I would love to do that but can not because of all the walking and standing which I can no longer do.   I cant believe how much I miss now.  I took everything for granted.

Crystal, that is really cool that you get some time off.  Enjoy it!  Also, I am glad that you and Monica revived the Christmas spirit at your office.  See what just two little elves can accomplish?!

Lisa, have fun at your dinner and playhouse?  Where are you going?  Is it Goodfield?   When are you having your cyst removed and where?

Connie, what a wonderful way to get in the Christmas spirit and also what an enjoyable experience!

Dawn, I am so happy that Liv's ear is hearing so well!  I agree that you need to get your surgery in this year.  I understand the "deductable is met" and that is such a valuable thing.  Why put it off and have it cost more.  Let us know when you are going to do it.  I am sorry you are still having issues.

Everyone have a great day!
