November 7 - upcoming surgery

All I can say is wow. My doctor's office is so thorough with their pre-op WLS, PO and General Surgery patients. My head was spinning with each and every person that walked through my consult room door. We had the usual testing done (blood, EKG, temp, weight, pulse ox).

I saw the dietician (diet before and after surgery - due to the bowel being involved I will be on a limited diet - no problem), exercise (what to do/not do before and after surgery), medical tech girl (what to do for cleansing the skin beforehand, Lovenox injections and the spirometer) and doc (he goes without saying as he is awesome).  Lovenox will be for 2 weeks with a revisit to the need for the next 2 weeks. I have had DVTs in the past and they are being careful.

All of my scripts are called into Target, what I have to do beforehand is in writing and if I do not remember I can call and ask. I have food logs printed from LWB to log my liquids that have to be consumed during the 7 days beforehand.

I have to be on a 5 meal a day liquid diet beforehand and then there are guidelines for my 6th "meal" of the day. This is all to shrink the liver because they are doing this all via Lap. That darn liver gets in the way all of the time!

It sounds like you have everything under control. Plus, your confident with your medical staff.
You will be feeling so much better afterward. Have Dave give us  a shout afterward.

Lisa, Thank you so much. You support means the world to me.

I will have to instruct Dave on how to get on OH to update. Of course I will have my phone or 'puter with me. I have not found out if they have WIFI there yet as the Advocate website stinks.

Kind of ready and not ready if you can comprehend. One has to mull over in their mind all that is involved with the potential complications and to get through the PO portion before you get back to work.

I do over think things sometimes.

They say a positive attitude is half the battle and I'd say you have that in spades.  I'd say good luck but I don't think you will need that...so I will send you lots of good healing vibes.

Chris

Your surgery day will be here before you know it.  It sounds like you have had lots of tests and pre op procedures done and I think that helps us get mentally prepared.  It is nice to have a planned surgery IF you have to have surgery at all.  I know it will be painful and involve healing time which can be long and uncomfortable.  My wish is for an uncomplicated surgery and an easy recovery.  It sounds like you have a great doctor so no concern there!  my thoughts and prayers are with you during these next few weeks.
