Wednesday Roll Call
More Python today and then to meet a new carer counselor at 4 pm. I am really enjoying the U of Toronto course now that I have dropped the MIT one. The MIT one might have been alright by itself but was too much taking both.
Watcha doin' between the rain drops today Illinois?
Been enjoying an old passion - reading. Just finished Up Country by Nelson DeMille, long book -706 pages. I found it on the sale rack at the library. My sister recommended the author. Then at a resale shop I found The General's Daughter by the same guy. I should have read that first as one leads into the other. I found some books that I enjoyed when in HS by Chaim Potok - The Chosen, The Promise and In The Beginning. The first 2 are stories about HS Jewish boys. It is set in NYC during WWII. One of the boys is Hasidic and the other is Orthodox. They are rival sports players and they build a friendship and it goes into both of their studies as they become rabbis. They are easy reading and you can easily get lost in the books. The ones by Nelson Demille are more intense and have a little bit of espinoge (sp?) and mystery. Sorry if I use spellcheck OH locks up on me. And no I am a traditional person and have physical books in hand. The books will be donated when I am finished with them. I will probably keep the Chaim Potok books.

I tried going back and reading the Bobsy twins books again but it just was not the same. Strange because I still really enjoy Dr. Seuss.
I read Bobsey twins, Nancy Drew, Five Little Peppers series, Grace Harlow and the Border Raiders, Landmark books (biographies), and then as an adult read all the Madeline L'Engle kids books and all the kids books by Cynthia Voight. Love these kinds of books.
Adult series by Louise Penny, JA Jance, Donna Leon, J Parrish, Patricia Cornwall, Jefferson Bass, Steve Hamilton, Ridley Pearson and others I can't remember off hand. Always looking for a new series!

Crystal, have fun at your party.

Good morning!
Have a busy day of knitting today. Finished the hats for grandchildren. Still have one or two scarves to do for daughter-in-law. Those need to be sent before Thanksgiving so they can be worn while it's cold in Arkansas, otherwise they won't need them!
Not much else planned today. Wish I could get a haircut. I'm first on the cancel list. It's nice to have this problem after not having much hair last year so I'm not complaining.
Have a great day!

I am up showered, dressed, and watching the news.
Well I was saying just yesterday plans could change and they have. At least for Friday they have. I am going to have dinner with an old friend. I haven't seen her in a few months. I also set up a fun party at my house the first Saturday in November. Me and my friend Monica are planning it. We are having fun with the movie Magic Mike and we are going to have a Magic Mike party...with pizza and drinks...hahaha. We thought it was a funny idea. And apparently everyone else did because everyone we texted to invite wants to come. Don't ask me how we came up with the idea...we are goofy I know.
Today will be a beautiful day make sure you get out and enjoy it. Wear something summery and go for a walk. It might be the last for awhile. I am wearing capris...just like I said. In fact I am wearing capris that didn't fit me when I packed away my Summer clothes a month ago!!! Bonus!!!
Randy- I never read the Bobsey Twins..but I loved Dr Seus. Growing up I loved Laura Ingallas Wilder books, Beverly Cleary Books, Judy Blume Books, I also loved the not very well known Encyclopedia Brown Books.
Have a great day...enjoy...see you later...Bye
Well, we have a lot of early birds this morning. I am posting at a little after 7 am and so many people already up and at em this morning! Must be anxious to get through the week. For myself, I did not want to wake up this morning when the alarm went off. I was still ready to sleep some more. Beemer is up to his usual tricks. He is in hiding. Today was the day he was to go back to the vets -- naturally.
Randy, I cannot imagine waking up at 3:30 and being up for the day. I would need a nap by afternoon for sure. I am glad your course is going good.
Chris, I am sorry your foot is hurting. Some of those foot problems are really painful! You brought back some memories with the mention of the Chiam Potek books. I loved his writing!
I also loved the Bobsy Twins but have not read them as an adult. The same for Nancy Drew. I get a kick out of Dr Seuss as well. Funny how we like the same things growin up.
Connie, I hope they have a cancellation for your hair. I hate it when I am due for a haircut. I get mine done tomorrow. Your new group you started sounds facinating and I love your connieisms. Rick can do the same thing with people. He just goes up and starts talking.
Crystal, your party sounds like fun. I may be showing my age but what is a magic mike?
Lisa, it is almost the weekend for you. Hope you have a good day. It is going to be sunny and warm here in LaSalle and as I recall, this is your day to be here.
Sharon, I am sure you have another whirlwind day planned. If it was me, I would be looking like something one of my cats dragged in.
Dawn, will you have a cute uniform to wear while volunteering? That sounds like such a fun job! I hope there is a job opening there soon for you! Fingers crossed and positive vibes being sent your way.
Everyone have a great day!

I have to agree with Nancy.....I would need a nap if I got up at 3:30. Heck, I sometimes feel that I need a nap anyway. :-)
I am going to try to get over for the airport physical and drug test at lunch today. I went by last night and they wait/exam time would have been 2.5 hours! Hopefully, they won't be as busy during the day. The program is hoping to start by the second week of November. I am sure they would like to have the volunteers in place for the Holidays. I think it will be interesting.
I am making a seafood combo and salad for dinner with noodles alfredo for the family. Liv's boyfriend is coming over to help rake leaves, which is nice. We are counting the days to her surgery next Friday. She also wants to get a haircut before the surgery because she needs to be very, very careful not to ge****er into the ear.
I don't really remember an series books when I was a child (except for Stephen King), but my kids (and now grandkids) had their favorites. Liv loves Nancy Drew, David really love "Little Critter" when he was small and Circe de Freak (?) as a teenager. They both loved Berenstein Bears too. Riley is now reading/listening to Berenstein Bears, Little Critter and The Boxcar Children.
I guess I'd better find something to do.....
Everyone have a lovely day!
