Tuesday Roll Call
Hi folks!
Had a great day on Monday knitting with some new folks and then I came home and made beef stew with a recipe from Cook's Illustrated. Really complicated recipe but the result was really good. More tonight of course! LOL
Today I went to the spinning group and enjoyed that. (Yarn, not exercise).
OK, I'm a mystery reader and one of my favorite authors is Louise Penny. Her newest book is "The Beautiful Mystery" and it features a group of monks who sing Gregorian chants. Not to ruin the story, but there is some focus on markings on the music called "neumes (noomz)". These were early indications of how to sing the music--up or down, etc. Well I looked this up on google and thought they looked familiar. Turns out I have an illuminated manuscript with neumes on it!!! I thought they were notes until I looked more closely and compared with the computer. My mother did this manuscript in art school in 1934! She did it as an assignment and it has hung in my home as long as I can remember. Currently it's over my desk in the living room. I'm stunned! These kind of things happen to me with regularity. Makes life so interesting!
Have a good day!
Connie
