I am home!!!

 I am finally home!  I got sprung about 1pm today.  Thank you all for all of your wonderful well wishes.  The final diagnosis was my kidney disease.

I had been retaining fluid badly for almost a month.  I had gone to the er a little over 2 weeks ago and at the time they asked if I wanted  to be admitted and of course I did not.  I figured if it was necessary it would not be a question.

Well the fluids continuied to build up.  What was going in was not coming out.  My kidney doctor sent me back to the er on Friday night to be checked out.  Well the same jerk in the er asked me again if I wanted  to be admitted.    This time I said yes.  I still felt it should not be a question.  They admitted me and to me all hell broke out with diagnosis of all imaginations flying.  The end diagnosis was due to my kidney disease which I have had for some time.  I am at stage 3 renal failure.  I have been maintaining my own for at least 3-4 years and no problems.  Well massive dierurtics and 15 less pounds I am feeling MUCH better.  I knew I had to get this fluid off of me.  It is not all off but it is much better.

I do have some right side heart failure issues but the heart specialist I see does not see that as a problem.  He attributes it to sleep apnea and he says the right side is not a problem.  All my heart function numbers are strong.  I just need to go back to the c pap machine.  He does not even see a reason to give me a stress test.  So the heart is not a problem.  Whew!

I do know I do not like the new system our hospital has put into place.  Instead of seeing your regular doctor while in the hospital, you see a hospitalist.  This guy was a jerk!  He did not read my chart and comes in the room asking How long have I had diabetes and high blood pressure.  When I explained that I no longer had diabetes he stood there and argued with me and the same about the high blood pressure.  I am on high bllod pressure meds for my kidneys.  My blood pressure is really high --- it was 98/50 most of the weekend   yet he continued to insist that I had high blood pressure.  Hello???  The heart doctor walked in and knew me and knew my history and immediately put everything back into perspective.  He was not troubled at all.  I just could not get through to this hospitalist!  Oh I wished for my regular doctor.  GRRRR!

The hospital will hear about it on my evaluation.  This should be voluntary not mandatory.

I am glad to be home and I have had plenty of kitty snuggles this afternoon.

I am so glad you are back home!!!  Yeah!!!

I hate hospitals and doctors...so I can understand your relief to be home.  I hope you will be feeling better soon and back to your old self.

Nancy,

      It is great to see you home and away from hospitalist. I can relate to that. It seems that for a while, everytime I went to the hospital for any testing, the first thing out of the RNs or the ER Drs mouth was " Do you Know that you have heart problems?". I finally started saying "Really! I thought the scar on my chest was just put there for fun". Yes, i can be sarcastic when it is needed.

Anyway, I am glad you are home.

 Nancy,

I am so glad you are out of the big house and home. Sorry you had to deal with all the hospitalist issues. Another debaucle thanks to Medicare. Medicare will not pay most providers while a patient is in the hospital. Physicians have decided to use hospitalists and not fight with medicare to get paid. It also frees doctors up to spend more time in the office. Screwed up system..... In any case {{{{{{{{{{{{{{{{{{{{{{{{{Welcome back}}}}}}}}}}}}}}}}}}}}}}}}

Love,

Sharon

 I am glad you are home and feeling better.

I had heard one woman complain of hospitalist at Northwestern but that is where my neurology specialists for sleep disorders are so I do not feel bad about submitting to that system when my body decides to go south on me again.  I do wish I could get there bariatric surgery team to look at all the scopes from my last stay at ABMC before that happens.
