A morning walk then off to Tim's House gathering at Mt. Olive.

Brisket is seasoned up and in the fridge.  Need to get the smoker out of its box in storage and set it up ready to go Saturday morning if the rain goes somewhere else.

What is the rest of the great state of Illinois up to today?

Good morning!

Up early because Kay has to go plant a tree at her old high school for their reunion which is this weekend. Otherwise I'd still be sleeping! I have a couple of errands this morning and then no plans. If the rain stops we might go to Farmer's Market later today. It doesn't start till 3.

Have a good day today and be nice to yourself!

Connie

Good Morning Randy and Connie and All,

I love that I felt a tiny bit of chill in the air. Felt it when I got the paper this morning. It was definitely there. I'm ready to put summer away.

I am going to the Farmer's market as well. I hope to find some McIntosh Apples. They are more firm this early and I love the tart apples.

Also, we are driving to Rockford today to the JC Penney Outlet store to find a deal on curtains. My pal is redoing a bedroom and needs drapes. It is an hour drive and I get to be a passenger today.

Have a great day my dear ones.

Best,

Sharon

Hello everyone

Yeah it's Friday!!!

Amanda is coming this weekend!!!  So today after work I am going grocery shopping.  I have to make sure I have stuff in the house for her to eat...she's vegetarian.  I also don't cereal and I want to get her favorite cereal..I know she won't eat it for 2 years.  I have to get something to drink in the house because all I have is Crystal Light and milk.

Sunday we are all meeting up in Starved Rock and it will be a beautiful day.  We will have lots of yummy food and if any one wants to drop by and eat some Puerto Rican food come on by...its all good.

I am happy that Peterson was convicted but the law that convicted him makes me nervous.  I mean any one of us could be convicted if a group of people decided to lie.  Not that anyone was lying in this case.  I'm just saying that convicting someone solely on someone's word...is dangerous.  I'm a person that wants to see actual evidence...DNA, fibers, video...so on.  But that being said...I do feel in my heart that Peterson did kill his wife.

Randy-  when you smoke meat does it not spoil as fast?

Well I better finish getting ready...see ya later.  Bye

I agree Crystal. I don't like the wife killer either and he should be behind bars,  but i also do not like this new law. I do not think the Supreme Court was right on this one. The lone Peterson  juror that was the one hold out on the last day said he was a bit apprehensive about convicting based on the new law.

I LOVE PR food. It is my favorite. I used to go to my aunt's farm in PR when I was a kid. There are tons of Germans in PR. My family is in Germany.

How is it you chose PR food for your daughter's visit?

Have a great weekend.

Sharon

My daughter is half Puerto Rican and her father's family is very much a part of our lives(even though her father isn't) and they have been very good to us (even better than my my own family).  They are the ones cooking for the family get together and its Amanda's favorite food.

Me on the other hand I am not a big fan of Puerto Rican food.  There are few exceptions but I don't like most of it.  But of course they they are so good to me they always cook me something special for me to eat...isn't that sooo sweet.

That is true but I smoke it for the flavor and it is seldom around long enough to worry about spoilage.  If the rain stays away I will smoke 25 pounds of brisket which wil render down closer to 13 pounds and I will share some of it.  I need to make up a survey and get folks I share with to fill it out so I can tweak my cooking to Illinois taste buds.  Any meat that stays in my fridge more than three days gets tossed in a freezer bag for use in soups or as a quick microwave meal when I do not feel like cooking.

 Good Morning, Early afternoon.

We had a good downpour this morning aand it is stsrting to rain again.

I went to see our local senion dervices this mornng, to help me make an informed choice on Medicare supplements. There are so many things to choose from. I know what company, and I think I know the service too. Also on my part D. I wanted to get the info from someone who knows and who is not trying to sell me anything. I am a happy camper today.

I will be starting to clean house this afternoon, after I put away groceries, We are going out for dinner this evening.

Crystal, have fun with Amanda.

Randy, hope the rain goes away.Even if we really need it.

Kevin, drink drink drink,

Connie and Sharon, enjoy your farmers markets. Connie, is the ockford one as nice as the Madison one?

The Rockford Friday night market is much smaller than Madison but has live music and beer and wine tents. It is more to hang out and see your friends. There is a great Market in Beloit, WI on Sat from 8-1 in downtown Beloit and it has about 80 vendors. It really has as much variety as Madison and is much closer. We've only gone once but it is certainly worth it.
