HUMANA PPO
Hi All :o)
I first started looking into wls 2 years ago but my insurance at the time did not cover it. My current insurance of over 1+ years now covers survery. I only have one more weight meeting with my general physician, and have to do the psych eval, and I can turn my papers into Humana. I'm having an awfully hard time getting anyone at Humana (or finding online) to tell me exactly which WLS are covered on my specific plan. Also, I'm trying to gey any insight on how long the approve/deny process will take once I have submitted my papers to Humana. Any help is GREATLY appreciated!!!!
Thanks All!
Tara

Revision on 04/19/13
Hi Tara,
When you talk to Humana, ask for thier bariactic or insurance department. When you do summit, it can take from 2 days to 3 months. When I got my approval , from BCBS, I got it in 4 days. But when I summitted for a revision, it took 3 weeks for them to refuse me.
I hope this helps,
LISA

Hi Tara,
I used to be a medical claims manager for Cigna and I strongly encourage you to call again and ask to speak to a manager in the inquiries department (customer service) if you do not get the answer you need. In addition, If they give you the malarky answer all managers are in a meeting, ask the person for their name, then repeat their name to the person along with the time and tell them you are using this info to file a complaint with your state insurance department and your company's human resource department, and the insurance company in writing. If your insurance is self-funded then I would talk to my human resource department as well.
I personally would send a letter to the inquiries address on the back of my insurance card and clearly indicate you want a response in writing within 21 business day. Please send this letter certified mail. You will get a response in writing. When you call, you might get different answers depending on who you speak to (aggravating, but unfortunately true).
Good luck and don't give up. That's what they want you to do.
Sharon
