I want to ask you guys a question. I stupidly used packing tape to secure the dresser drawers.  Now there is tape residue on my dresser.  How can I get this sticky residue off without harming the finish???

Try Goo Gone in an area that will not be seen to make sure it does not affect the surface. It should do the trick. You can get Goo Gone at the hardware store. Do not use it on fabric.

PS - also try one of the lemon oils or other oils that is designed for furniture cleaning as they might dissolve the adhesive.

Olive oil may also work.  Try rubbing the adhesive with olive oil and see if it will remove the goo.  It will nourish the wood from being in dry storage and may remove the adhesive along with it.  Just a thought.
