Panni vs TT HELP!!!!
Hello-I am scheduled to have a panni with Dr Kane. I am starting to stress out. Everything I read
says you need a total tummy tuck by a plastc surgeon or you might end having more surgery to fix it. Any input and experiences greatly appreciated. I am about to call the whole thing off cause I am so
stressed about it.

I would not call it off but I would contact Dr. Jimmy and express your concerns. See if you can get an appt with him. I had a TT with him back in 1993 (due to other cir****tances - no RNY that came later). So he does do them.
Here is another thing - if your insurance okayed a panni it might be because they will not pay for a TT. You will need to do a little research on this.

Thanks for your input. I did talk to Dr K and he said it was the same thing-panni was a tummy tuck but everything I read says otherwise. He did my gastric bypass and I was pleased with that surgery but can't help but wonder if I will end up needing more surgery cause the panni was not enough.
The insurance would never ok a TT-but I saw a plastic surgeon and he said he would include it with the panni for $4000 more. I only want to do this one time. Where you happy with the panni? Thanks again for your reply.

Yes, you are correct a panni and TT are not the same. I had a TT with Dr JK and was very pleased but mine was due to other cir****tances.
My DH had his panni with Dr. Steve Madry. He had already lost all of his weight but still needed the panni done again because more skin needed to be taken off. The 1st surgery took off 19#. I had a lower body lift with Madry and it needed to be done a 2nd time. I do not think doctors can really judge if they are getting all of the excess off. I think for us it was a issue of age and the condition of the skin after being obese for so many years, genetics falls into play also.
Dr JK is a skilled surgeon. You will just need to be the judge if you want to go through the panni or not.

Thanks again-Dr K said probably would remove 5 # so I am guessing it is not that much hanging skin. i am more concerned with having a new lump of skin where the scar will be-just smaller then my overhang now. I am approaching 60 years old so that is not in my favor-and I never had skin that would bounce back. I am not looking for a new body-just want to be comfortable. I have a trust issues with doctors so I am leery. I am in the medical field myself so I question every thing. Just panicking and that's not helping. Thanks so much for your replies. I love to hear of others experiences-you can get a better idea of the outcome.
