I am at ABMC since Sunday.  Results of endoscopy sent to bariatric surgeons here.  Short periods on clear liquids between rest of time NPO have been a battle with dieticians.  I am thinking there must be one here that understands GBS patient needs.

Have you had any contact with any of the staff from the Kane Center yet? They should be able to intercede for you on the diet side. They do have a fairly extensive menu that I am sure you know that you call in yourself. The clear broths are really good and are made fresh daily.

When you say it has been a battle with the dieticians - you need to explain a little more. I am not really sure how else to help you. And yes their dieticians are insync with WLS patients.

Randy,

Is it your doctor that is limiting the food?  Why did you have an endoscopy?  Have you been having problems eating?  That may be the cause of the restrictions.  If not, I have been able to order off the menu at hospitals.  I ask for slices of meat ie: turkey, beef, chicken plain and a veggie, cheese, and a beverage.  That keeps me in line with my dietary needs.  Breakfast may be yogurt or eggs.  The hardest thing is creating a menu that is not too boring.  Hope you get released soon!

 Internal bleeding

Red cells too low and had to postpone on Monday

Clear liquids for Monday evening and broth offered was not real.

Tuesday room service level 2 made me some real broth and found that they had some gluten free broth later that was good.  I would like some green veggie stock as well.

Randy,
I had internal bleeding in my colon. It took the Dr.s at Mayos to find it. Then, no more problem with that.
