Thursday Roll Call

Morning folks. 'Tis a little windy out there this morning. With the direction it has been blowing the last few days it is difficult to walk home after work.

Speaking of work - I have the place to myself today as the other girl is driving down south to pick up a squad. We had a DUI on the 17th slam into the back end of 2 of our cars and she totaled one of them. Fortunately, our guys were not hurt.

We have our appt. with the financial guy this afternoon. Looking forward to that. Even if he does not feel it is feasable for me to retire at least we can put a plan together for the near and distant future. I have been pushing the DH to do that for years but he has been dragging his feet.

What is happening in your corner of IL?

Later Gators

Hello everyone

It feels chilly...but it's seasonal for this time of year.  I'm just used to the really warm weather.  I'm glad the week is almost over.

Amanda is usung my car today.  Shs has a class to teach.  Other than that I have nothing out of the ordinary to do today.  I notice when I'm pooped I want to snack more.  So this week has been a challenge for me.

Chrisitne- I hope you get good news from your financial guy.  Since I don't have a pension and I am wondering about social securitys fututre...I probably will have to work till I drop or get to sick to work.  I could still win the lottery or marry rich!!!!  Hahahaha.

Nancy- I always wondered what would happen if there was a false negative on those tests.  I'm sure it will be fine since you have the RX to back you up...but what a pain in the butt.

Well here's to hoping the day goes by quickly.  see ya later.  have a good day all.  Bye.

My understanding is that what you have paid into SSA will come back to you (especially my age bracket).  Doesn't your companies that you have worked for had pensions in place or have a plan for a 401K? TEEHEE, Dave calls his 401K a 101K after the hit it took 12+ years ago with the dive of Lucent. It is just now coming back. Both of us also have Roth IRA's. Dave is still close to 5 years away when he HAS to start drawing on the Roth. We are holding off on touching those.

Revision on 04/19/13
Good Morning.

Christine, I hope your meeting this afternoon goes good. Ours tell us to do what we want about retirment. Like he said, You have extra money to travel and buy with, if you retire, you will be ok, but the traveling wont be as good. We decided to wait until 70 to retire, or when we can't work because of health.

Randy, you DO need a lawyer. There is a cross the board rejection on SSDI for the 1st 2 trys for it. I see this all the time with our clients.

Nancy, I hope your day goes alot better for ypu today. We all have days like that.

Karen, you know a vacation week never goes the way you want.

Where are you Steven?

I am working today, then hitting the store for a few things on my way home. Thats my exciting life for today.

Saturday I will be going to a support group meeting at the Kane Center. I need to attend one before I can get my application for a revision sent in.

Life is good.

Hugs,
LISA

Good Morning Everyone!

I feel like I am late today!  So many early birds today!  It is so much colder today.  I was shocked when I went outside to go to work.  BRRRR!

Today is my Friday!    I am taking tomorrow and Monday off for a mini break.  I need it.  It will make me be able to smile more at work!

Yesterday went better except for the letter I got when I arrived home.  I am hoping it was a huge mistake.  It was a summary of my health insurance that I get in retirement that is supposed to be paid by the state, not by me.  It states that my portion is almost $1,000 a month    It then states that the state pays nothing.  I sure hope that they reversed those figures.

Chris, I hope you get some good news this afternoon.  I figure I am working until I am no longer able to work.  My pension was cut almost in half when I lost my job.  I took the health insurance and ran.

Crystal, what critters are getting a free ride in your car today?    Hopefully no spiders or snakes that can get loose.

Lisa, I vote for the traveling.  That is always fun.  I hope you are feeling better today.

Everyone have a great day!

Of course I know the state is broke.  But I paid into the system to support my retirement and this is something that has been promised to me in writing for over 30 years.  Now is not the time to renege on it.

I am there with ya girlfriend. I should have put a TEEHEE in the last message. It was more of a tongue in cheek silly comment. This whole economy is so frustrating all the way around.

I agree,  I really hate this economy.  I talked to the powers that be this afternoon.  The letter was a mistake. -- Thank goodness!  I also discovered that even though I get state health insurance, the state does not pay for it but the Cooperative Extension Service does because I am a federal employee and retired from federal service.  That means, (we think) that even if the state does cuts, I wont be effected.   I have really been running scared of the state legislature and their big ideas and what cuts they can make!

Yes, we have been discussing the vacation side of things for the future. We know that there will be sacrifices along the way. Part of the both of us being home together will take the place for us to not need to "get away". Many of our get aways stem from the stress of my work and the need to escape far away from it. I am a person that is satisfied with simple things. Just getting out to Woodfield to walk or to Whole Foods or Mariano's grocery is a treat for me. I have very simple needs in life.
