support group for food addiction?   It could be something online or with in person meetings (Chicago Western Suburbs) In addition to the WLS, I think that I could really benefit from a support group setting to help me come to terms with why I choose food for comfort. Why I overeat to begin with...I looked into Overeaters Anonymous but I am looking for something that is more hmmmm.... shall I say, open or experienced with people who have had WLS.....kinda being met with that "anti WLS" attitude a bit...

Hi, I am new here, but have done some research.  Overeaters Annonymous is a group that is everywhere.  They may be of some help.

Yep OA is one you can attend both in person & I believe online. Also if you go out to the community section here under groups there is a food addiction group here also. Might be worht checking out!

Sometimes hospitals will have meetings for OA and other addiction groups. I would also Google OA on the internet and their website might have a list of locations for meetings. Sometimes churches, park districts and libraries will provide rooms for the groups to meet in.

Does your doctor offer support groups? I am still pre-op but will be attending the support groups my doctor offers to at least try them out.
