Wednesday Roll Call
Hello everyone
I woke up this morning pretty sore. That's the story of my life lately. I don't do it on purpose. It happens when I first start a rigid exercise regimen. Last time this lasted for a month. I met with the personal trainer yesterday and he thinks I have shin splints!!! Yeah me!!! So he told me to lay off the high impact exercise for a week (so no running) so was on the elliptical...and then he gave me some calf stretches and strength exercises to do. So today I woke up and I feel sore from the knees down...this is all from running outside!!! I told you that ground felt REALLY hard and I could feel it in my joints and muscles!!! Oh well.
Today is more of the same. Work and working out. I always sleep so good when I workout. You have no idea. I fall asleep and the next thing I know it's morning. But that doesn't mean I'm ready to wake up....I would love to stay in bed.

I came in a few hours ago to write a note and got side lined with work of all things!
I am tired from yesterday which does not surprise me. I am hurting also because I messed up my right leg or right below the knee. My foot dragged on some carpet that had some ridges underneath it so it was not completely level from one spot to the next. I either wrenched something or gave myself a tear in the front of the upper calf. It is not the ACL that I hurt back in November it is a different pain. I cannot even go up/down stairs. I pulled my cane and crutches out last night but only have the cane in the car at this point. Fortunately I was able to get into one of the ortho docs @ the practice I go to tomorrow while I am off for other things. I do not want to tell anyone here @ work because then it becomes workers comp and that is a pain in the backside. I will mention it if it ends up being something serious like a broken bone or surgery but I can handle tissue damage and PT if necessary. I finally am having that CT scan that the 2nd opinion doc wants me to have.
Need to get back to work.

Hi All,
Crystal, exercising is not suppose to hurt. If you are sore for more then a day or 2, you are overdoing it. I usually stay asleep when I go to sleep, and yes, I would love to stay in bed in the mornings too, but, I can't either!
Chris, I hope you find out what damage you caused in your leg.
Dawn,we all feel for you. Working is not good if the environment is bad.
one trick I have been doing for the last several years is I paint my toe nails funky colors, sparkles, glitter whatever. At least when you get up and start to dress, You put a smile on your face.
You can even put smily faces on them. The idea is to make you smile, and no one sees your toes under your socks.

Lisa- All this soreness is from one run outside. I didn't think it would cause me so much pain. But that is what happens to me I try something new or try to move to the next level and I find out I'm not ready by feeling it the next day. This time I will feel it for a week or two from what I read. Everything the trainer told me to do sounds right according to webmd.com. Unless I have a stress fracture (which I don't ) it says I shouldn't stop all activity. I should slow down and no high impact. Which is what I have been doing all week...but I'm still super sore. I have been doing my stretches and my calf exercises. It will take time. If running on cement causes me this much pain...I might not be ready for this 5K..actually I'm kind of scared to try this again. By the way...I love, love, love your painted toes idea. I might do it this weekend....that is if I can bend my legs comfortably...hahaha!!!!
