Sunday Roll Call
OK, so here I am up at 5:15 and trying to remember what I ate yesterday.
I should have logged it.
The food situation was heavy on my mind.
I started the day with three pieces of bacon and two cups of coffee then went to Computer Connections at Bright Hope.
I am reading a book on a special blend of Unix that runs on recently retired Apple products that are still useful to many people.
The rest of the day was spent listening to archives of American Routes then the new version of Authur then Doc Martin and I was ready for bed.

This is the competitive spirit in me. I posted before finished because I know others are beginning to stir by now and I wanted to be first,
Do we have folks here considering surgery now?
Our insurance changed from an HMO to an EPO and going forward we are not sure what that will mean for Rx cost or doctor selection except for our PCP.
Surgery may eventually be for Sherry as well but right now we are signed up for the Optifast information seminar. That worked well for me in 93-95 going from 390 to 230 or so before I started to have hernia and gall bladder operations. We are trying to lose what we can before a wedding he end of April.
Continuing the food. At CC one member loves to buy snacks in plastic jars and I had a couple of handfuls of mixed nuts and decaf coffee that I brought with me followed with water. I had two cups of a mixture of beef sausage, brussel sprouts, green beans, shrooms, mayo, sweet peppers, onions, american cheese with garlic powder and cayenne and a little butter. I also had a wing and some breast meat from a rotisseire chicken. And I drank two pints of diet RC over ice.

I know every insurance is different but my last insurance I had (the one I had when I had WLS) was an EPO. It was the best insurance I ever had. They covered everything for me. The decsion to cover my WLS came through in 24 hours!!! Which speaks volumes about how well they work with their clients. Even if it's not WLS you are going to get... the fact the process was so easy compared other people tells me they are easy to work with. But they are more expensive as far as Rx. This could differ from yours but I loved my EPO. I think you might like it. It costs more but you have more flexibility.

Good morning Randy and the rest of IL. I see that we did not get that rain that was predicted yesterday.
After we got home from Costco and Whole Foods ($165+ later and not all that much) as I was putting the stuff away I thought my storage in the basement for these supplies is a total mess and I then spent the rest of the day organizing the shelving units and old kitchen cabinets that we have. I like to watch Extreme Couponing on TLC and I took their lead with how these people organize their stock. TEEHEE - it looks like a grocery store with it all lined up and neatly stacked. It is refreshing to see, now to keep it that way . . . It started a couple weeks ago when I cleaned out a couple of closets and found a huge stash of multiple things in the bath closet.
Well, you know what I am doing today . . . more of organizing.

I keep thinking I will get into couponing if for no other reason than to have things to give away that we do not eat.
When I bought my second little freezer last year at Jewel it was really fun getting everything that was offered with "free" coupons and then giving it away. I gave away the last of it this week.
A few weeks, I think I already mentioned, I bought 45 pounds of brisket for 2.59 a pound down on Randolph. I also bought two 3.5 pound pieces of grass fed beef. One was about eleven dollars a pound and the other was close to eight dollars a pound. I am exploring the idea of buying, smoking and reselling at these fancy farmers markets as meals ready to eat with veggies. One group does this with ingrediants for tamales and sells the tamales for six dollars each.

I really should get into couponing but to me that is such a waste to stock pile (extreme couponing like in the show) all of that stuff just because one can do it unless one is giving it away to a food bank or shelter. The show has featured some people that give the proceeds away; not the extreme side of it. Everything we bought yesterday will be used by us in the course of a few month's time. I do not get the paper on Sunday's when most of the coupons come out. I should get into the Coupon Susie internet side of things.
Your idea for the markets is great! Barrington has a really nice farmer's market, on a Thursday. Mt Prospect has a decent one also, it is on Sunday during the summer. Yes, you did mention it a while back about the brisket. What do you think of grass fed beef? We thought it was tasteless! I have never had a tamale!

Hello everyone
Yesterday was a nice day. I ran errands with Amanda. I went grocery shopping with her. She's vegetarian and I saw the food she buys. She eats soooo healthy. Good for her. She stocked up on every kind of bean you can think of (one of her main sources of protein). She had so many beans!!! Then she had tons of frozen veggies and veggie burgers. All of her pasta and bread was whole grain and wheat. I'm so happy she didn't adopt my horrible eating habits. I just wish I could eat like her all of the time...
Then we went to Goodwill. I found a nice sweater for work, a sweater for home, and a pair of black slacks...all for $10....I love Goodwill. Do you know I know someone that said that it creeps her out to wear used clothes. I said to her, you never wore used clothes ever...not even growing up? And she said no...and I said well then you must have been well to do (she had 4 kids in her family) and if they can afford to dress all 4 kids in new clothes all of the time...that expensive!!!! Amanda was in hand-me-downs all of the time...oh well.
Today...I am going to workout. Oh I have to tell you guys....I joined this gym that I can bring someone with me for free...every time!!! You know that means...Amanda will come with me on Saturdays. I asked her and she was excited to come with!!! I also signed up for a personal trainer!!! OMG..I'm so excited. My first training session is Tuesday!!! I always wanted to do a personal trainer. Then I will get a newspaper and do laundry. That's my day in a nutshell.
Have a good day...see ya later
