Courtney,
Hello! I just joined OH and my gastric bypass is scheduled for 2/14/12- Valentines day! I too had to do 6 months of a medically managed diet for insurance. I am glad I did, it gave me a chance to rid my body slowly of stuff I should not have been eating instead of going cold turkey. I am on the 10 day liquid diet now and it is hard, but I am sure it would be harder if I did not stop eating the "bad" food before the liquid diet.
Good luck and I am much like you, I am 31, 5'4 and 347lbs., but not for long =)

Hi Coley,
Thanks for your reply! Congratulations on your surgery date, how exciting it must be to have the surgery coming up so soon! I got confirmation from my Dr. that I will have to be on the 6 month supervised diet and I'm ok with that because, good things come to those who wait :o)!! What kind of diet did you do for those 6 months? I was thinking of doing WW since that was the only diet that I was somewhat successful with in the past. Do you have Tricare Prime North? Who is your Surgeon?

Courtney,
My doctor made a medically managed diet, b/c I decided to have gastric bypass after being on WW for 6 months and only losing 5 pounds and I too had great success on it before. But I only lost 5 pounds with my doctor's diet too. She said this surgery was made for people like me. I hope she is right. My doctor is Dr. Amir Heydari and I have never heard of Tricare Prime North, is is an insurance? I am VERY excited to start my life! I feel like ever since I started this journey I have been in limbo!
