Tuesday Roll Call
Hello everyone
Almost time to go for me....I'm tired.
I came home to wonderful left overs or so I thought. Well I guess reheated steak isn't my friend. It was too tough. It was so nice and tender yesterday but not as lefterovers. So I ended up just having mash potatoes and corn for dinner. Oh well...
The other night I finally decided to ditch Wuthering Heights...I was not likg it. I decided to watch the movie and if I like the movie maybe I can get into the book again. I started to read Funny Farm...much more my type of book. I like to read a few chapters a night before bed. What I have read so far is very interesting.
Well I better get going. Have a great day all...see ya later.

Happy morning/day to all.
I am kind of walking on cloud 9 after yesterday's doc apts. I have a name for the deformity with my right index finger. I have a splint to wear and it should relieve the discomfort but it will take a while to take effect. If it does not then there is surgery to fuse the first 2 joints of the finger, not sure I want to go that route. My left thumb is broken and that is why it is not healing. It will take time for that also. My second opinion apt. is where I am on cloud 9. There is no indication for me to have an invasive angiogram and in fact with my HDL and overall cholesterol numbers it is highly unlikely that I will ever develope heart disease! However, the 2nd opinion doc would like me to have a CT scan with contrast to rule out the supposed "abnormality" that was "seen" during the nuclear test. This doc yesterday said that this test many times gives false positives due to the breast tissue blocking the image that is being taken. I am so happy that I followed my instincts for a 2nd opinion and am so PO'd at my primary. After this CT I can move onto a new primary, YAHOO! The only gray cloud is that my ins. more than likely will put up a fight for paying for the CT, go figure they will pay for the invasive more expensive test because of the "seen abnormality", put a patient through that than pay the $1200+ for the CT. Go figure. We more than likely will pay for that out of pocket as we need answers. Oh, the 2nd opinion doc is the one ordering the CT and not the primary. The primary is out of the picture as I have said I do not want him told anything.
PS actually the CT is to rule out any calcification that might be in the heart which he says usually never is seen in a patient under 60 years of age.

Crystal, not sure how you reheated your left overs but I have found that when I reheat steak I will butterfly it and sautee it very slowly on the stove with a cover partially over the pan as that creates some steam and keeps it moist. It will stay pretty much at the doneness (I like my steak med rare to begin with) or it might heat up to medium when reheated. I find that it is still tender. I stopped reheating in the micro (if you did it that way) for steak a long time ago due to the toughness that it will end up with.

It took me many, many times to get to the point of reheating meat in a sautee pan - the right length of time and heat setting. I have a gas stove, but I got it eventually. It takes patience with it. I also have a setting on 2 of my burners that turns the flame on and off - hence it slows the cooking time.
I also reheat my pizza slices the same way and patty melts or other sammies Learned it on the Food Channel.. They get crispy (pizza) and heated (patty melt) all the way through. The lid on pizza helps keep the heat in. Sometimes it takes 15 minutes to reheat pizza put I do not have a soggy crust as you do in a micro.
I am not a fan of the micro. Good tasting food is worth waiting for.
PS you need to heat meats in the micro on a very low power setting to keep it from over heating or to get tough. Not fond of micros except for soup, boiling water or minor veggies.

Good Afternoon,
I got home a bit earlier today, and went directly onto the gazell. I think now, before I make dinner, I will try to start cleaning out the bathroom closet.
BTW, I don't do steak hardly at all. If I do, I take a peice about a 2 inch square, put mushrooms and onions on it, and cut up small. Then hope I can get that down.
I made an appointment with Dr. G for the last Monday in Feb. I have been gaining weight, So, i know it is time for a fill.
2 more days to work, then another 4 day weekend. I am afraid, it is the last one for a while. We get off Presidents day in Feb.
Chris. I am so happy that you have had some answers. I hate when no one thinks anything is wrong, and you know there is.
Off to get busy for a bit.
Hugs,
LISA

Lisa- I have no problems with any meat except baked white meat chicken. It's just too dry...I just stick with dark meat when eating chicken. When I eat fried chicken (which isn't often) I can eat white meat then...but I can't have heavy breading. I prefer batter dipped chicken.
You are so lucky I don't get another paid holiday till Memorial Day. I do have a little vacation time I can take but I want to wait a bit to take that. I don't want to use it up.

We both have a problem with dry white meat with chicken. We havelLearned that it needs to be cooked so it is still juicy but not overcooked and we can tolerate it. We both love dark meat for chickie; it is tastier. Around us we can get boneless/skinless thigh meat on sale at out favorite mom and pa grocery store and we will buy some to make recipes and freeze it.
My next paid holiday is President's Day. Usually hate it but last year it came in handy with Dave's knee replacement.
