Tuesday Roll Call
Isela,
Thanks so much
I haven't tried anything mushy yet - doing my best to stay with my doctor's plan. I'm healing well but did decide to decline Thanksgiving dinner with my mom's family. Just a bit too much to absorb at this point, I think.
As of this AM, I've lost 15 lbs since surgery. I weighed myself for the first time the Sunday after surgery on Tuesday, as I could tell I was still bloated from all the liquids they give you in the hospital...that Sunday I was exactly the same as when I went in. So, really, it's been about 10 days that the 15 lbs has come off.
That said, please don't compare yourself to anyone. I went in to my liquid diet with a BMI around 50 (ack), so with as much weight as I have to lose, it always comes off relatively quickly at first.
Nancy, related to not getting into mushies too quickly, I certainly will do my best not to. Generally VSG patients do start this transition 2-3 weeks out, but I am going to be cautious. Mostly, I just want to experiment a bit so I know what to plan for going back to work next week. I'm totally OK with bringing protein shake with me to work, but want to be ready to plan for egg salad or something like that if my tummy will allow it (even at an ounce! We'll see how it goes - I may or may not be giving thanks for food tomorrow![](http://images.obesityhelp.com/_shared/images/smiley/msn/wink.gif)
Jill, I was so sorry to hear of your mother's passing. I can not imagine the heartbreak that comes with such a loss. What good fortune, though, that you have 6 siblings to be with and share wonderful stories about her life as you celebrate the holiday.
Thanks so much
