Wednesday Roll Call

Hello everyone

It's hump day!!!

I have been letting my eating get away from me.  It's little things here and there but it adds up.  A candy bar here, a roll there...before you know it I unintentionally ate 600+ calories or more.  I wish I didn't have this problem.  It would be so much easier if my problem was quitting smoking...I don't HAVE to smoke 3 times a day to survive.  Last night I resisted the urge to eat at McDonalds.  That's another thing...I'm getting weak with the fast food...I need to hold strong.

Last night I realized my neighbor is using my garabage can to throw his garbage out.  That way he doesn't have to pay for the service (which is $20 a month).  He's a grad student so I understand money might be tight...but if he had come to me and said "hey money is kind of tight can I toss my garbage in your can every week" I would have let him.  But this sneaking around is wrong.  I don't know if I should say something to him or just ignore it.

Well I better get going back to work...yuck!!!  Have a good day.

Good morning Crystal and the rest of Illinois!

I understand about the eating.  I am looking at my 5 year anniversary and of course, that makes me look at everything WLS related more closely.

I need to get "back to basics" as I find that I am not really paying attention at all.  Part of this is psycological.......my nutrishionist (who does NOT understand WLS) tells me not to worry.......look how much LESS you are eating than you did before.  She advocates the "plate method"  Half a plate veggies, 1/4 protein and 1/4 starch.....yes, white starch, rolls, etc.........
Although my one side KNOWS this will not work, my othr side argues that since this is her JOB, she knows and it won't hurt me.  Well.......the first time I took her advice, I gained 10 lbs. that never left.  Since then, I have gained another 20.  Time to IGNORE her and do what I KKNOW is right........probelm is, that is difficult to remember.  I plan to go back and read my thoughts from right after surgery to remind me how to eat correctly.

I would try to catch the neighbor and make light of it......maybe something like, "I think you are using the wrong can, mine must look a lot like yours"......open up a dialog and maybe you can offer to split the cost?  Or maybe you will take pity on him and let him do it for nothing.  Or maybe he has skills that you could barter.......guy stuff like construction, hanging Christmas lights, fixing stuff, etc.........

Besides working in hell all day I have nothing huge on the agenda.

Everyone have a spectacular day!

Dawn-  I like your ideas about splitting the bill in half or bartering...lord knows as a single woman there are some "man" things I would like to get done.

The bad thing is about my eating habits...I know when I am eating this candy bar I shouldn't be eating it...but then I tell myself "it's a treat"....but it's not a treat if your are treating yourself every day.  I am having trouble saying no.  It's like my willpower is going away.

I am right there with you.........I used to have wonderful willpower.  I still don't really eat candy and sweets, but chips and bread....watch out!

Hello IL!

Crystal and Dawn, I've slowly ended up right there with you on the eating.  DAMN, it is like....I'm going back to my OLD habits....although, granted not eating nearly as much as I used to....I need to eat the right things!  .  I think I've gained about 15 lbs from my lowest.  I"ve joined the gym, but am kinda out of control on the SWEET side.  That has always been my downfall.  I had a fill last week and it has helped some, but wondering if I may be just a tad too tight.  I'm having acid coming up almost every night...Crystal, when you were a little tight, how did you feel?  ANyway, acknowledging the problems of "weight creep" might be helpful.

RE: the student....I really like Dawn's idea of the bartering thing.  You might just say to him, hey, I can imagine money is tight as a grad student, and notice you've been using my garbage...could we maybe come to an agreement that I could have you help me with a few things I can't do on my own like....whatever.  See what he says.  He prbly figures since you are by yourself, you don't have as much garbage as a family would.  I'm alone too, but there are those weeks when my garbage can is full!  LOL.

Kind of a gloomy day up this way.  I don't think it is raining...yet!  Have a good one!

Georgie-  The one time I was so tight I had to have a slight unfill.  I lost 10 lbs in one week...why because I couldn't eat anything.  At first I idn't mind because I was losing lots of weight and I could still eat soft foods.  But by day 5 I couln't keep water down and by day 6 I couldn't even swallow my own saliva...not a good thing.

Having a slightly tight feeling though once in awhile is something I encounter.  It usually feels like a pressure in my chest.  A feeling that if I take one more bite I will throw up.  I neve feel pain...just discomfort.  If I ever felt pain I would call Dr Lahmann.

Hi All,

I never posted yesterday, it was a day from H. I didn't get out of the office until 5:45, so had to drive home while it was getting dark. Not my favorite thing.

Today was better, at least I got home before 5.

Going to Monicas  for a birthday party and Morgans Halloween party on Sat. Nothing else in the forecast for this weekend.

we are joining friends for super tonight. BTW, I don't eat breads or pastas, but I do enjoy my candy and cakes. I think i too have gained back a bit. And, I need to get back to the basics too.

Have a great evening.

Huggers,
LISA

 Evening Everybody!

Another late night for me.  Beemer got groomed today and now he looks like a minature lion!  It is really adorable.  The other cats aren't sure about it but they will get used to him looking different.  I will try to get some pictures posted on facebook.  I cant believe how cute it is!

I had my MRI this afternoon and then went and got my hair and nails done.  I am so glad it is hump day.  I am ready for the week to be over.

Crystal, I like the idea of trading skills for garbage.  One of my neighbors share my extra garbage can space in exchange for him taking out my garbage.  It works for me.  I dont have to haul out cans and never have the second can and he always needs an extra space because of the size of his family.

I agree with everyone else, willpower is so difficult.  Carbs are my downfall.  Breads, crackers, cookies, are hard to ignore -- also chocolate.  Sigh.

Everyone have a great evening!

Nancy-  Does grooming help with the shedding? Jasper is shedding so much and since it's white hairs I can see it every where...my sofa, tables, clothes.  I have a nice brush I brush him with and it removes lots of fur but over all doesn't help much.  How much does grooming cost?

Grooming will help greatly with shedding.  They can remove a lot of the dead haor tjat falls out.  Also you want to get a grooming curry comb like the kind you use on horses.  Those remove the most hair.

I paid $61.00 for Beemer today.  It included nail trim, ear cleaning, bath, and haircut and brushing.  It would have been $51.00 without the lion cut.  Pictures are on my facebook profile.    Beemer had become a walking fur ball on 4 paws that was leaving a trail of hair everywhere he went!
