I woke up before the Hubby this morning. Not sure why, since I have to work late this afternoon. We stay open until 6 this evening.

I decided that I need a third lamp in the Rec/living room. Last week at Menards, I seen a stained glass lamp with shades of orange in the shade. It was also the same size as the lamps I bought. I think, tomorrow, when I am in LaSalle, I will stop and decide if that is the one I want.

Otherwise, it is to be another rainy day :( It is suppose to be nice for the rest of the week after today. I hope so.

Have a good safe day,

Huggers,
Lisa

Good Day Lisa, Crystal and IL!

I agree with you guys.  I need bright lights, especially in my family room where I spend a lot of time.  I HATE these "new" curly bulbs.  No matter how they try to "convince " us they are NOT as bright as the regular light bulbs.  However, the "regular" bulbs are going away and they are shoving these down our throats whether we want them or not!  (I'll admit...I'm not as evnvironmentally friendly as I ought to be but hey!...you want to replace something, make sure it is as good or better than what you are replacing.)  Ok  off my soap box!  LOL

Rainy days and nights.  Roxie is having to be convinced to go out, but finally does.  It is certainly chilly after the sun goes down.

I'm hoping for the nice, cool weekend they are predicitng.  I'm wanting to get my garaged straightened and cleaned our before winter.  I bought a snow blower at our church rummage sale....I know the guy who had it and know it is in perfect condition....oh yeah, I have one snowblower, already!!  This one is bigger and after a few of the really big snows we had last year, think I can prbly use it.  I plan on giving my current one to my friend's husband how takes care of my lawn and bushes!

Well, have a super day!  georgie

Georgie there are the new light bulbs that are bright.  I know this because the ones that were here when I moved in are super bright.  I just have to figure out what brand it is they have in there.  I do like the new light bulbs because I don't have to replace them all of the time.  Back when my daughter went off to college I started to replace all of the bulbs in the house to the new ones and I haven't had to change them since and that was 5-6 years ago!!!

If you find out what brand/wattage they are, I would really be glad to know!  I have a 100 W (equivalent) of the curly one and it is NOT very light at the end of the room it is in...not like if I had a regular bulb.  However, I put it in a few years ago...maybe they've improved?  Thanks!

You want to find CFLs which provide light in the 6500-6700K range.  The standard CFL light range is round 2700K (warm) .  They aren't hard to find at Lowes and other big box places.  The down side of the higher band is they are a little slower to get to full brightness.  CFLs dropped my power bill about $15-$20 a month when we went to them 2 years ago.  They are cheaper now.

CFLs are less efficient and lose some of there life span when mounted upside down.  There are many more dimmable versions of the CFLs available now.

BTW, I am not the most green person in the world.  I don't recycle as much as I should but at least I drive a hybrid Camry and my wife drives a Prius.  We try.

Thanks for the info, Don.  My problem will be if they are 10 bucks each...I know they are supposed to save money...I just can't get used to them.  I will look up a higher K range at Lowes/Menards next time I am there.  Appreciate the info!  ALso, I saw you  had posted about your family members living in Manteno.  I don't have any kids at the school, so wasn't familiar with your nieces.  Sounds like they are excellent soccer players.  Which area do your pepole live in?  I'm in the subdivision on the south side of town, west of the tracks.  Was born and raised in Manteno.

I wish there were a "LIKE" button here on OH. Those new bulbs stink. We are buying up as many incandecent bulbs as we can to stock pile before the idiots in WA DC totally shove this down our throats.

Hello everyone. Been busy with things here at home and at work (went for a field trip to PU a new veh. in Palatine),  next week we PU a couple of cars out in Crystal Lake again, have a doc apt tomorrow, packing for an event for the 125th anniversary of Moody Bible Institute over the weekend (in the Loop). What else - oh somewhere along the line I have to do some things at work . . .

Packing our clothing for the weekend at the moment. Have to go through all our clothing to find "business casual".  We have a few things but not much; need to mix and match everything. I am not going out to buy anything . . . since I wear a uniform 5 days of the week I do not have much in that arena. Neither does Dave as he is retired. We have either extreme - dressy or jeans.

Need to heat up some left overs for din din.
