Good morning all you Illini's! I sure feel guilty with this fantastic weather that we are having and the east coast is getting nailed with a hurricane. Hopefully I will be able to talk with Dave's sister today. She lives in Wilmington, DE and it was supposed to hit last night for them.

Well, I did not get outside yesterday. After I got done making our dinner (which I started really early in the afternoon) I decided to take a nap and crashed for 3 hours. So, I am going to try and get out there sometime today.

What is going on in your world?

Later gators.

Good Morning,

Just a tipacal Sunday morning here.I have a fresh peach pie in the oven, cleaning up the kitchen, and finishing the laundry. Just a relaxing day. I'll need to get ready for work tomorrow. Making sure I have everything we need.I am just hoping that I can grasp all the new programs we are going to  be using.

I am sticking a roast in the oven for dinner, and for sandwices later this week.

Annette and Rick came down yesterday to swim. I was surprised that the water was still 85'. A couple more weeks, and Hubert will close it up for the year.

Have a great safe day,

Huggers, Lisa

Your roast sounds wonderful. We have left overs from yesterday. Chicken thighs, mushrooms, onions sauteed with a light gravy.

Hello everyone

I have been busy this morning...already out in the garden.  OMG...I have so much mess to clean up.  I still have more to get done.  I didn't get enough flowers so I need to get 4 more flowers.  I got orange and burgundy Mums.  I also need to get some flowers for my big flower pot.  The part I'm working on right now has stepping stones leading to the patio.  But it's so over run with weeds and old mulch.  So I have to dig up the weeds and put down some new mulch.

I am supposed to get my washer and dryer today but I haven't heard from them.  So I am calling because I need to know when they're coming.  I have to run some errands.  I am actually wondering if they forgot about me.  Don't they usually call to confirm the delivery during the days leading up to the delivery?

I am taking a break right now because I am getting breakfast and want to relax a bit.  I have chicken breast brining in the fridge.  I am making Italian chicken and potatoes in the slow cooker.  It's an easy recipe just Italian dressing, Italian spices, and fresh Parmesan cheese.  That's it.

Well I better get back to my relaxing and then back to work.  See ya all later.  Have a great Sunday.

I need to have a question answered....

I was thinking about getting a bird bath for my garden (it would look perfect).  My question is if I get a bird bath would I have to worry about the standing water in the bird bath becoming a breeding ground for mosquitos???  I know there are things I can put in the water to kill the mosquito larvae but wouldn't that kill the birds too???

Yes, the bb could be a breeding ground but if you wash and refill it several times a week it will be okay. You will also find that you will need to fill it a lot once the birds discover it. I would go to a store or garden center that sells bird bath equipment that has cleaning supplies and books you can buy. I have a really nice sturdy bristle brush (I think it is at least (3"x3") to scrub out the bath. I have not had a bb for a few years because I never replaced the one that broke. There are heaters that you can get for the winter months that is fully safe to run. It keeps the water defrosted so the birds and squirrels can drink. There is a whole lot of stuff out there that you can buy and a great website for birding stuff is www.duncraft.com they have a tendancy to be pricey but they have a lot of stuff. Another place is Wild Birds Unlimited. www.wbu.com They are pricey also but very knowledgeable. You can look at their website for locations that are close to you.

 Good Afternoon Everyone!

Not much going on in my corner of the world.  I have to finish up my class stuff and sew today.  That is all.

Chris, I also crashed yesterday afternoon so it must be the weather.  It is always there to blame everything on.

Lisa, I am glad you can still enjoy your pool!  As to the new computer program, I am sure you will do fine.  Just remember that everyone else is learning along with you!

Crystal
, it sounds like you are making great progress.  One thing you may not realize is that your mums most likely will not come back.  To get mums to grow year after year you need to plant winter hardy mums in the springtime.  That gives them plenty of time to get established before the first frost.  I never managed to have any mums planted in the fall survive to the next year.

Everyone have a great day!

Nancy, I am with you and have never had much success with mums. They are so pretty when I see them and give me the warm fuzzies with the fall colors.

Nancy-  Oh I didn't think they would come back in the spring.  I just wanted something hardy enough to last through the end of October...maybe even some of November.
