Steven, more than likely it is because most of us are so long out and it is just part of our life style now. We think about it but really do not talk about it. You are early out. Dave and I are 8 (me) and close (Dave on Sept 30th) to 8 years out from our RNY's. We talk about our food and exercise at home. For Dave & I we challange and encourage each other about food choices and do the same about exercise. We are not ashamed - we are all very proud of our individual accomplishments.

It is exciting to talk about WL and non scale victories as a newbie and ask any question that you would like. One of us will be able to help you. For me if I do not know the answer to the question I will usually research it for the person. I am a little bit of a research junkie. I can do that as I do not have any kids so therefore I have more time.

Yes, the forum is here for IL members that are going through the WLS process and PO but we have all gotten to know one another so well that we share our lives also. Let's face it your life PO is important also. You will find that you will think less and less (in your own life) thinking about WL and it will become automatic (life style) and it will be almost like you have lived this way all your life. Do not get me wrong you will never forget how you got to that point and you will be grateful for the miracle of the surgery it will just be part of your "life". . .

It might be time for a get together. We also have gotten to know one another through these by meeting face to face. Jules was going to try and put one together but her life took a turn for an earlier move than she anticipated. Let me see if I can arrange one at my house in the next coming 2 months.

Morning boys & girls, moms & dads, children of all ages (Bozo Circus quote and not meant to be rude). I personally like to call people kids as I think we all are kids at heart!

I have my first PO appt after my procedure last week Friday. I also have an eye doc appt at noon. Might as well take advantage of the time off from work to get the eyes checked and shop of course. There is a store that sells new and used store equipement over by Woodfield Mall that I need to go to btwn appts. I need to stop at Staples and Hallmark also. I know that I have taken a turn for healing as I did not nap yesterday.

Looking forward to being out of town next week. I am not taking a computer with because this little motel does not have Wifi and I do not have an air card nor do I have access to the 'net via my cell phone . . . so you all carry on without me as I know you all will.

Where has Lucy been? I see Randy on FB.

Later gators.

Chris

Good Morning,

Steven, you are right. Alot of us don't talk about our weight loss. Its because most of us are just trying to maintain what we have lost. Monica V, Jules, Deb,  Ahmer and yourself are still losing alot of weight. Sandy is starting on her journey, You ask any questions you want, and someone will try to answer you. You can also go on any of the other forums to ask questions and join in also.

I was awakened this morni ng to thunder and lightning. It is still raining, but it should stop soon.

My new headboard is being delivered this morning. I can't wait. I ordered it on Monday, from www.hayneedle.com. If you want to see it, its on the first page and is called "Aynsley ", I just ordered the headboard, not the footboard. We decided we like the hope chest at the foot, and why buy it it you can't see it. After we attach it, I will put the new quilt I bought on the bed and also the new 1500 ct. sheets. Then, our bedroom will be done for anotter few years.

I do want to start on my bathroom next week,.

I went and tests done at the hospital yesterday. I was very surprised. I got ther at 8:40 for a 9:00 apointment, and was out of there by 10.
There have been times when I was waiting for labwork longer then that.

Heres hoping everyone a safe and dry day.

Huggers,
LISA

Good morning all,
Steve, I am just about 8 months out of my surgery and have a little over 60lbs to go before I hit my goal. I always am thinking of my weight loss journey but for me my feelings, emotions, play a huge part in my weight loss. I like to use this place as a safety net. I like being able to get thoughts out instead of earing over them.

Speaking of eating, last night my family took out my hubby for dinner to celebrate his birthday. His resturant of choice waas Texas Roadhouse. The last week I started tracking everything I eat as my weight loss has stalled. So prior to eating lunch, I looked up nutritional info and planned my meal! The steak with lowest caloric value was the Dallas Fillet. Yeah me, my favorite. I ordered the smalled cut, steamed veggies no butter, and a baked potatoe. I think I ate about 1/3 of the steak, 3 pieces of veggies, and zip potatoe. I also ate 1/3 of a roll, and one chicken wing. I was full a little uncomfortable. Now the rest of the family over indulged. I was please with my controlled both forced control and mental control. I was full but not sick. Aftere dinnere we walked around Best Buy and then Gander Mountain.

I do have a curious question or two for all:
1) how many calories a day, those that had the rny, try to consumea day?
2) i know this has been talked about before, but vitamins? I am still doing the Flinstone chewables, but what do most of you take?

Have a great Friday! I am off to the gym!

I do have a curious question or two for all:
1) how many calories a day, those that had the rny, try to consumea day?
2) i know this has been talked about before, but vitamins? I am still doing the Flinstone chewables, but what do most of you take?

1. 1000-1200 a day PO when the patient is able too get that in. For many that is hard to achieve but it comes eventually especially if it is dense protein first and wholesome foods afterwards. Treat yourself if and only if you have left over calories at the end of the day.

2. you are kidding me - Flintstones? These vitamins do not have enough RDA for an adult. I am unsure why doctors recommend these vitamins other than they are chewable. There are chewable adult vitamins. Please for your sake get off of these as you are doing yourself an injustice and you are robbing your body of nutrients. Your labs might be coming up great right now but give it time . . . and it will show up.

3. I am a Shaklee distributor so Dave and I take them. You should be on a good adult multi, a B Complex and calcium citrate. As a RNY patient one should not take calcium carbonate because one does not produce enough stomach acid to break it down. Depending on the person's PO labs some will take more B 12 and Vit D 3. I take B 12 & Vit D 3 because I malabsorb this more. Your Vit D 3 should be in dry form and not an oil capsule because your body cannot absorb the oil capsule. I take Omega 3 also upon recommendation from my internist. My NUT says that it is OK to take them even though it is an oil - the body is getting enough of the benefit of it.

Read the main forum from time to time as there is a girl by the name of Andrea U that is a vitamin guru. She will post info every once in a while regarding the evils of adults taking Flintstone vitamins and what a person should consider to take as a RNY patient.

I consume anywhere from 1200 to 1400 calories a day.  I don't believe that a person should eat less than 1200 calories.   If I go under 1200 calories I can really feel it in my workouts.  I don't have the endurance I usually have.

As far as vitamins I take adult Centrum chewables.  The rest of the vitamins I take for specific reasons.  I take Omega 3 because they are good for the heart and help lower cholesterol.  I take Calcium with D because my gyno told me to.  I take magnesium, chromium, biotin because they are good for weight loss and metabolism.  I will probably redo my vitamins after I settle into my new place because I am reading a book and they suggest some vitamins and minerals and herbs for metabolism.

Hello everyone

I don't talk about actual weight loss but I do talk about food and exercise all of the time.  I also have talked about my weight loss stalls.  But I think so many aspects of life effects our weight loss and for many (myself included) this is one place to come and talk about it.  I actually like that we aren't one track and only talk about weight loss.

I am so glad it's Friday.  I only have one more week.  They made this place colder than ever.  They did something and now the vent right by me is really loud and it's blowing 55 degree air...and I'm wearing capris and flip flops....Brrrrr.

More packing in store this weekend.  Last night I packed up my purses and most of my shoes.  I can't wait to move to my new place and furni****  It's very exciting.  My ex-sister in law says she does want my furniture so I may have less to sell on craiglist!!!!

Oh and I just realized that the gym I want to join in Urbana is 3 blocks away from me!!!  On nice days I can walk there or bike ride there.  I can't wait to shop the farmer's market.  Amanda says it's huge...almost the size of the Mall parking lot....yeah!!!

Anyway I better get back to month end...it will be a late night for me.  See ya later.

 Good Afternoon/Evening Everyone!

Well I survived my first week at work.  Today's challenge was my computer had deleted me from the system and I had to wait 2 1/2 hours to be added back in.  Funny,  I am back 3 days and then they decide I no longer am working there.    This gave our tech support department a run for their money today.

This afternoon I went ceiling fan shopping as mine decided to break.  They really make a difference.  I did not realize how much till it stopped working.

Tomorrow I have a check class to teach then I am free the rest of the weekend.

Steven, interesting question.  I feel we do talk food and diets here but just not every day.  Christine, it sounds like you are getting active!  Have fun in Wisconsin.  We will miss you.  Lisa, I really like the headboard you selected.  I had never heard of that company.  It has some really neat things.  Crystal, enjoy your last week at work.  Don't get too sad to leave.  You can keep in touch with your friends and we know you won't shed any tears about leaving the company.  Debbie, great job of eating successfully last night!

Everyone have a great weekend!

Nancy
