Wednesday Roll Call
Hello everyone
I am so glad today is Wednesday. Mostly because I decided to take Friday. Not for any special reason, other than I need to start using some of my vacation time. I have so much I won't be able to take it all before I leave (I will get paid for the unused time).
I called the movers for a quote and I was happily surprised at the cost to move me. It will cost me $865 to move. I don't think that's bad at all. Considering that they have to take me all the way to Champaign. A friend of mine used them in May and he was very happy with their service.
I'm not going to start to do any serious packing till the end of the month. I don't really feel like living in boxes for that long. I'm a fast packer and can get it done quickly. When I was married we were constantly moving. My ex didn't like staying in one place long (in 11 years we moved 10 times!!!!). I think the longest we stayed in one place was 2 years, the shortest was 4 months. So I became really good at packing.
I found this new app to keep track of your weight lifting. You are supposed to keep track of your reps, sets and weight...but I didn't want to carry around a pad of paper. For those of you out there working out and lifting weights, it's called Gym Friend. I think it will be a great tool for anyone weight lifting.
Steven- I have encountered some jealous people and snide remarks. The funny thing is I get the most support from the naturally skinny people who have never been fat. I seem to have the most problems from the over weight people. You would think it would be the other way around. I never acted that way to people who lost weight. Sure I was envious but I never acted mean or unsupportive.
Well I better get back to work. Bye
So I found out that I should hear about the job by Friday. I talked to the hiring manager yesterday. She also heard I applied for another position. I told her I needed to keep my options open if this one falls through. It's been over 2 months!
I have to go to a meeting in Woodridge today. I need to get on the treadmill as well today.
I am struggling to get protein in. I know I haven't been eating enough either. With the heat, I'm just not hungry. My hair is starting to fall out because of it. I have really thick hair so I'm not too worried, but I know I need to jump start the protein intake. I also get tired in the afternoon from not eating enough. The joys of our journey!
Hope you enjoy this gorgeous day today! I turned off the air and opened the house last night to let the breeze in!
Jules
I hope Friday comes with wonderful news! As for protein, I make protein ice cream. It is one way I can make sure I get added protein in if needed. I also do make sure I eat a lot of yogurt, cottage cheese, eggs and other high value protein foods. I always go by the mantra of protein first and then the rest of the food. The ice cream makes a great evening snack when I want something extra!

My basic protein ice cream recipe is: In a blender container put 3 scoops protein powder. Fill with milk (I use soy milk) to the 3.5 line. Add 12 frozen strawberries (to get the mixture super cold or refrigerate mixture) 2 TBSP sugar free syrup Blend until smooth. Pour into ice cream maker. Process according to manufactures instructions --- about 20 - 30 minutes. I then use those zip lock bowls, place chopped fruit in each bowl (fresh or forzen) and add soft ice cream. Stir, seal and freeze. To serve, pop in microwave about 30 seconds.

It is a BEAUTIFUL morning in Chicagoland today :)
Steven, I have not gotten that from people yet. However a funny thing is that before the surgery many would say that I am not fat.. I just have a tummy and to exercise it off !! I havent seen a pic of you so its hard to pass a judgement as to whether your coworkers are jealous or not.
My take on it is that they see you as what they think is thin enough for them.
Today will be my first day with hands on training at Dominicks. Its 9:30am and I am exhausted already. Lord help me when I get to the store :''(
I got a phone call from the electronics retailer "HHgregg". They are opening a brand new store in Naperville. The interview is next Wednesday. I am just feeling them out to see if they pay better than Dominicks. I dont like the fact that i have to pay 32 bucks as union dues there. For me, thats half my electric bill right there. Let see how HHgregg pans out !
Jules, you are not alone in struggling to get enough protein in on this forum. I am eating eggs, steak, chili etc but still dont meet the daily recommendation. I cant stand protein shakes anymore but I think I will have to start taking at least a couple of scoops a day or perhaps every other day. I will look into that in more detail later today.
Alright, thats it from me.
I am loving the break in the weather, but concerned about where Liv is.......110 heat index today with humidity of 88%! I am assuming she is doing well as no news is good news, I guess. I started to call her last night and Todd told me to "put down the phone". He says she will call when she can. As far as I know, her only free time is between 9 and 10 pm (8-9 here). I am just very anxious to hear how it is going for her.
In the beginning, I had a few jealous people, but most were very supportive. Now, it is "old news" and I had a bit of a "bounce back" and no one seems to notice.
I LOVE my protein drinks!!!!! I have one every morning on my way to work with my morning vitamins. I try to get in at least one other each day but it does not always happen. My protein and albumin levels have always been great. Every morning, I put 1.5 scoops of chocolate in the blender with 12 oz. of water and 8 ice cubes. I add one packet of Swiss Miss DIET cocoa, a half a tsp. of instant decaf and a splash of sugar free syrup. YUMMY!
I also like to have a protein decaf coffee many afternoons and in the winter do a hot (warm) one before bed.
There are SO many ways to enjoy these drinks. Experiment until you find something you can live with. Try to stay away from milk, sugar and too much fruit as additions. DaVinci makes every flavor of sugar free syrup that you can possibly imagine to be added with no calories! (www.netrition.com) I probably have some recipes lying around for interesting combonations, but I stick with the usual chocolate.
If you really CAN'T learn to like it, think of it as medicine and do AT LEAST one per day. My surgeon recommends a base of 80-100 grams per day and there is no way we can get that in with our smaller stomachs. If you take the "medicine" approach, just mix a scoop, scoop and a half into 4-6 oz. of water and shake in a bottle and chug it down. You will be healthier in the long run.
There is also protein ice cream!
Gotta get back to work now.......
Hope everyone has a fantastic day!
Looking forward to our brief respite of a little cooler weather. I really don't mind the heat, it's the humidity I object to! Crystal, have you told your work you are leaving? and how did that go?
I haven't logged my protein for awhile, maybe I need to do that! LOL.
Jules, good luck with your job. I hope you get the one you want.
Dawn, could you text Liv? I bet you miss her like crazy, especially if you can't talk to her, but I know she is having a fantastic time. She'll be home before you know it. How are things going for David at your work?
Not much going on here. Just stopping by to keep in touch. Have a graduation party to attend on Friday and Chloe is here all weekend, so Roxie and I will both be happy.
Everyone have a super day. georgie
I will give her notice on Monday 7-25. My last day will be Friday 8-5. I will take a week off and start my new job on 8-15.
Glad you are getting a week off in between. You'll be glad to have it to take a little time to get settled! Hope you get the duplex if that is what you decide on. I think you are going to love the Champaign area. I like it down there. Chloe and her mom live in Mahomet, a "suburb" LOL. Next summer you can take advantage of touring some of the "southern sites" like springfield. A lot of historical things to do there.
Good luck with your moving plans!
