Tuesday Roll Call
Beemer is going to have surgery. The vet confirmed that the tumor is back. I am waiting to hear an estimate of the costs.
As to my teeth. I broke a tooth and have been messing with some loose teeth on my bottom jaw for two years waiting for them to either tighten up or fall out. Well I made the decision to remove the remaining 4 teeth. I am going to have a full denture/partial attached to implants. It is going to be expensive but I am tired of doing one tooth at a time. I have terrible teeth because my mom did not get enough calcium when she was pregnant with me. So I have terrible bones, teeth and nails. Sigh.

The longest trip I have made with a cat is 6 hours one way. Good luck taking yours cross country! The journey will depend on the cat. I definitely would keep them in carriers. Take bottled water for their water to prevent diarrhea and you can get disposable litter boxes for the journey. I would feed them a good hour before travel. Offer water during potty breaks. I had one cat that got car sick so be sure to take at least 1 roll of paper towels and perhaps some towels to line the carrier and a garbage bag or two to put soiled linen in and also dirty disposable items in.
My cats usually howled only as long as the normal time it took to get to the vets. After that they settled down.
If you want to let them roam any, keep them on a leash and make sure they have identification tags on them in case they escape. They should be ok. They may be unhappy but they will live. It is your nerves that may be frayed by the time the trip is done.
Another thought is to fly them. My niece flew her cats to me after hurricane Katrina for me to take care of. It is a pretty simple proceedure and they do not have to have someone with the. Just be sure to compare prices and airline regulations.
