Howdy ho all
I went to my Dr on Monday of this week to get the results from all of my testing and to send my paperwork to the insurance co for approval. They told me to sit tight and try not to stress since it can take 30-90 days. It took 4 days to get approval!!!!!!!!! They want to schedule my surgery for June 30th but I don't think it's possible. My boss is giving me a hard time about taking the time off. When I first mentioned this to him in DECEMBER he said the sooner the better! That he was behind me 100% and when ever I needed to go just go. Now that it is here he is being a jerk and a half. He is the kind of man that if you are not a size zero and hang on his every word he has no use for you. I have not been there quite a year so I can't just go to HR and get FMLA; I have to take a leave of absence.I am really tempted to just say the heck with it and just quit but with the economy I know that's not a great idea! We had a agreement of sorts that I could go from the end of July to the end of August but now one of the kids in my department just put in a week's notice. I have waited too long and fought too hard to just give it up over a crappy job!

Hiya Pam!
Hello and welcome to the IL board. You do not have your name anywhere in your sign on or message. I like to address people by name.
Who is your doctor? You should add that to your profile. How long do you think that you will need off of work? I only took 3 1/2 weeks and that was for open RNY back in 2003. You might not need that much time off. Be sure to come in and join us for the daily roll call. That is how all of us have gotten to know one another. We have all kinds of different of WLS types so there will be someone that can answer most questions that you might have.

Hi Pam!
Welcome! First of all, take a deep breath and relax. I would suggest that you go talk to HR and tell them you need to have surgery. You do NOT have to tell them what kind of surgery or give any details other than perhaps fill out paper work by a doctor. I am on leave for back surgery and mine is FMLA and the doctor filled out a series of questions about 4 pages long. He did not identify the problem but just stated I needed surgery.
HR may be able to arrange a leave of absence for you. I was off about 3 weeks for my open RNY. The biggest problem post surgery is that you get tired easily otherwise, you are ok except for no heavy lifting, tender abdomin, limited movability for the first week etc.
If you are a good employee, your company should be willing to work with you! Good Luck!

Hi Pam, Welcome to the Illinois Board.
I do agree with Nancy. Go to HR and tell them you need time off for a surgical procedure. You do not have to tell them why. And it shouldn't matter if you had been there a month or years. Of course your boss doesn't want to lose you for a number of weeks, but it is not up to him when you can take off.
We can't wait until you are a loser. Then you will be able to join us on the losers bench and be proud of your decision to lose the unhealty you and get a new life.
Hugs,
LISA
