Hello everyone

Ahhhh...this is the weekend I have been looking forward to all year.  I am eating breakfast and watching TV

Yesterday I was home late because of over time at work and working out, and groceries.  I left my house at 5:30am and didn't back home till almost 9pm....it was a long day.  Today I am shopping for a door mat and sanadals.  I might hit a couple thrift stores.  I also have housework to do and laundry.  I like to get things done so I can relax the rest of the week.

I will be woring out today and tomorrow.  no rest for those that aren't losing weight.  I don't want to make week three with no weight loss.

Well I better get going and finish relaxing before my day begins.

Good Morning on the first weekend of Summer! Now if only Mother Nature would cooperate.

We had an expensive Friday, Went to turn on the pool filter, and nothing came on. So, off to the pool supply store we went, and some $$$ later, we have a new pump and a new solar cover. BTW, the water temp is only 59'.

Today, I am heading to our local park, we are having Parkfest this weekend. Its a combination of carnival, arts and crafts, food and music.
Then later, we are heading up to Yorkville, for a BBQ with our family.

Remeber to honor our Vets this weekend. Stay safe.

Huggers,
LISA

Remember The Blood Of Our Heroes ... So Others May Live

If you call me a die hard patriot... you would not be too far from the truth.  My fathers death when I was  9  winded up me living in Pakistan from age 9 to 18.  During those years I saw what life ina  3rd world country is. I saw poverty and desperation up front ..up close. To see how inept the government was at helping its people. This led me to a renewed respect for America. And this weekend we honor those who gave the ultimate sacrifice to make sure the greatness of America stays that way. I think every American should be required to spend a week in a 3rd world country. They will see how fortunate we are to have what we have.  This nation is the greatest country the modern world has to see. May god bless this country and may its stars shine every so brightly.

You are one busy bee cmagouirk (sorry, dont know your real name) . I think running all those errands qualify for a workout. I have to get my butt into a thrift store. I need some jeans. The ones I have are just falling off of me

Sorry to hear about your episode with the pool. I liken that to an unexpected car repair .  That sucks royally.

Well thats it for now ... talk to ya all later !

I believe people like you that had to live in a country that struggles with the very basics of life (water and food) and come here to America are the ones that truly appreciate how good we have it here.  I think those of us born and raised here even those of us who lived in poverty can never really understand how good we got it here.  I complain a lot about things but I need to stop and remember I have it better than most people in the world.

I too will be remembering those that died and suffer in war to keep our freedoms.

It is important to me that  I clarify that I was born right here in Chicago. I would have been raised here as well had my father not passed away. I have never left this country since I returned back to the USA. And that was 18 years ago :)

Wow...that must have been quite a cuture shock for someone.  To go from America to living in third world coditions must have been hard.  I have said that people that have never experienced any thing more than extreme poverty don't really know what they're missing.  But to have to live in a third world after living here makes it hard because you know exactly how good thing could be.  I actually think that makes your story more interesting.

I will tell you something. No matter how poor the country may be...there is always an upper class.  Thanks to the power of the mighty dollar and property owned by my father I led a charmed life. I went to a private christian school where the kids were from similar backgrounds. I lived a life that  was the envy of many of those around me.  Money was never an issue.  And in Pakistan, money can do everything  short of bringing the dead back to life.

Although one might think that there would an impact of culture shock  on someone like me. But it was not enough to unsettle me or cause a negative effect on me. I guess I was just a kid and went with the flow. Perhaps, I just dont remember :S

I agree with your post 100%!  I spent a month working in Poland.  We lived with families in the rural areas and saw how hard their lives were.  It was moving back in time 50 - 100 years.  What an adjustment it was!  It made me doubly appreciative of what I have here.  After I returned, I became so tired of people complaining about trivial things that really dont matter when compared to what I saw these people go through just to survive from day to day!

On top of that, my father fought in WWII and then stayed in the reserves for 20 years and went on training duty every year.  As a veteran, I had the opportunity to view some of the things our service people do for us on a daily basis.  I am deeply grateful for all the veterans and the men and women who protect the freedom that we have today.  My hat is off to them!

I too get tired, just reading what Crystal does on her errands!  That is a workout in itself!  I admire all the work the two of you do!

Lisa, So sorry to hear about the pool.  That always sucks when you have to go out and spend the money to get things working again!  But in the long run, it is always worth it!

Steven, so sorry you have to work today.  I am glad you will have a 2 day weekend that follows!  What do you do?  Enjoy your 2 days off!

For me, not much happening today.  I slept late and am now playing on the computer.  Rick is with his son.  It is raining (again)  So same old, same old.

I hope everyone has a great weekend!

Nancy
