You said it all with which office you are dealing with. There seems to be a MAJOR communication problem in that office. My DH had to call several times to make arrangements for an EMERGENCY hernia repair. The patient should not have to do that with the cir****tances he had.

One thing that my DH does even before he leaves his yearly WLS apt with Dr R is that he gets his prescription in hand for his blood work before he even leaves the office.

I deal mainly with the main office in hoffman estates. i have a friend who is with dr.kane.  Poor thing is suffering from serious ulcers. Guske who is supposed to be assisting his patients told her to go to the ER.  What is the ER gonna do ?  Shoot her with some pain relieving stuff and send her home...they dont wanna touch a bariatric patient !.  So, she is gonna have to ride it out until Dr. Kane merrily makes his way back to the offiice ...smh.   I told her to call the office and literally raise holy hell.

Going to the ER can have her see a doc right away and she more than likely would have tests and possibly be admitted.

I have found that raising holy H does not always work - it is being sweet as honey and you attract more attention. Holy H is vinegar and you do not attract anything.

edited to add:

with whichever office you call (and you really do not know where you are calling because the 9697# could be answered anywhere) I have found that you have to be sickenly sweet and be persistent with the follow through.

Despite my reservations.. I did urge her to go to the ER. Its better than sitting on your tushi and sufferring. As far as your views on how best to catch their attention.. my life has been spent in customer service. I know for sure that the one who barks loudest garners the most attention!

I wont disagree with you however.  I can see where you are coming from. And the sweet as honey approach does work in certain cir****tances.

Likewise have spent 30+ years in customer service with in the walls of law enforcement. I am forced to be honey and not vinegar, have my own style and it has carried me through by being firm, courteous and respecting the citizens that are paying my salary (myself included as I live in the village also). I also have to be courteous to the mopes in this world that find themselves in our 4 walls.  I do not let people step on me nor could I while being a E911 dispatcher for 16 years. I now work in records and do not have the stress of dispatch but have my own sort of stress with people at my walk up window, fellow employees, people calling for assistance . . . I could go on and on. I am looking forward to retirement and "Quinnocchio" better not touch my well deserved pension that is coming to me.

Hope your friend gets resolution from her ulcer. Nothing is worse than being in pain and being in pain in the belly.

Thanks for the well wishes.  I will pass them on to my friend. Moreover, I will try to get her into ER again. She just doesnt like hospitals (afterall who does?). She said if she ends up vomiting or something she will go.

I would have soooo loved to become a 911 dispatcher. The thought of being the go to person for people in their time of extreme need gave me a rush. I applied umpteen times but never got too far. Every person has a purpose in life. I think the purpose of my life is to be of service to others.  Now that I am losing weight and feeling better about myself.. I feel I can fulfill this purpose in so many new ways.  One thing I am going to explore pending a few resolutions in my life,  is the job of being a red cross volunteer...the search and rescue kind of person.  Lets see how this dream of mines pans out. Sorry went off on a tangent there :)

I really like your insight into your world of dispatch and philosophy of customer service . I am in IT now and dont have to deal with customers direclty.  However, I have internal customers who are just as important to keep happy !

 Good Afternoon Everyone!

I am about to get out the life boat here.  We had 4 inches of rain in 24 hours.  I am glad I did not wash away.  I knew we were getting a LOT of rain, but not that much!

Today I spent decluttering some more as well as a trip to the dentist and to physical therapy.  For physical therapy, I was the idiot of the place as a fell in the middle of an exercise.  I lost my balance and fell backwards on my butt and back.  Hopefully I did not damage anything.  I know I will be stiff.  I will know more tomorrow.

Steven, I am with you.  Rainy days are for staying in bed and I would have loved to stay in mine this morning.  If not for my appointments, I might still be there.

Sherry, good seeing you again.  I hope you can find something that works for you.

Lisa, enjoy your play tonight.  It sounds like a good one.  Glad that you are still showing cartlidge in you knee.  Mine was missing the cartlidge for about 10 years before I broke down for replacement surgery.

Crystal, I hope that shortage jumped off the page at you this morning.  Nothing is more frustrating that having an error and not being able to find it.

Ahmer, I am with you, sometimes you have to raise the roof to get your point across.  At least I do with my doctor's office.  I have to admit I have toned it down a lot since starting work in a call center but if they do not hear you, I will put it into terms that will make them sit up and pay attention.  I also have learned to take it to the next level (supervisor) etc and not monkey around.  People have their hands tied.  I finally take my complaints directly to the doctor and let him know what is going on and that is when I have gotten the furthest.

Jules, I did not realize that you lost your mother to breast cancer.  That puts a different slant on your sister's fight.  My prayers are with you.  I lost my dad to leukemia and my mom beat cancer 4 times so I have experienced both outcomes.

I hope everyone has a great Friday!
