For my microscopic colitis I have two drugs: Lialda (to help calm down the colon) and the other is for the diarrhea - Lomotil. I have not taken them for a long time. The thing that I found that works the best and it takes close to a week to start it working is fiber in the form of fruits and veggies. You can also add yogurt to the equation. I get real sloppy sometimes and do not buy the fruits and veggies that I need. I find that the Greek yogurt helps the best for me to get the probiotics into my system and it is real filling for a RNY patient. Part of all the fruits and veggies is that I find that I am forever chewing to get it all in.

for me I found (in the beginning) that the drug had to be combined with the fiber in my diet.

Good evening cyber friends,
I hope all of you living down state are doing well with the terrible weather.  I can tell you the Des Plaines in Gurnee is well over the banks.  I am sure in a day or two, the water will be on the roads.
An update on me, I am at the terrible state of hair loss.  I know it is a reaction from when I was recovering from surgery and not getting the protein, but UGHHH I can not stand it!!  I am taking the Biotin, eating/drinking all my protein in hopes that this will end soon.  I do not want to be bald!  Funny, but prior to losing the weight, my best feature was my hair.  I have/had very thick wavy hair and that was my beauty.  Notice, it was not me that I prided but my hair.  I am truly at a loss for how I am feeling with this stage.
This week has been a roller-coaster of health.  On Easter Sunday I started having a terrible sinus congestion.  I have not missed work but this cold really got a hold of me.  The most interesting time was when I tool NyQuil!!  Oh my, what a rush.  Such a different feeling after the bypass.  I was asleep in less than 30 minutes.
Today I woke a bit better but only in the sinus area.  I ended up at the Dr's with a bladder infection!  I tell you when it rains it pours.  I am hoping the antibiotics will provide some relief soon.
I am so looking forward to some warmer weather tomorrow.  Not sure if I will ride the bike to work.  That will be determined tomorrow.
Hope all have a great evening
Debbie

Hi Debbie.

I have the hair loss also. Same thing with me I used to complain about thick and curly hair. Not anymore!  I can say though I am only 8 mos out and I have noticed that my hair texture has changed but now is starting to come back.  I do not lose as much in the shower as I was 2 months ago.

There is a shampoo called Nexium that is supposed to help with the hair loss.  It is a bit on the expensive side but it has been recommened to me serval times.

 Good Evening Everyone!

I am just now getting on the internet.  I could not get on earlier today.  Have no idea what was happening but now I am connecting so I have a life again.

This afternoon I tried to wear myself out and darn near succeeded.  I went to the dentist and the piece that fell out of my mouth yesterday was a spacer for my implant.  Go figure this -- it completely healed overnight so he had to reopen the site to put it back in.  Got the teeth cleaned as well.

I talked to my surgeons office and tried to get some different pain meds.  I cannot believe that they keep telling me that I will be in pain and live with it.  It is pretty bad pain and I am puzzled with this nurse' attitude.

Then I went to Sears and Home Depot to price small deep freezers and bought one at Home Depot.  Took back a water feeder to Pet Smart because it broke when I was in the hospital.  They have a wonderful return policy.  I did not have a receipt but they took it back without batting an eye.
By then I was totally pooped and gave up on a run to Walmart and came home.  While I slept, Rick prepared dinner and did the dishes.  He is hired!

Thats it for me.  Vicki, I know you are really excited about your surgery, I remember thaose days and it was so exciting.  It sounds like things are going well.  Good Luck to you.  Raven, I hope you get some answers soon.

Everyone have a great evening!
