Another Era . . .
These are more ramblings than anything - I was really sad yesterday in the afternoon and also woke up crying. It is more of a grief sadness than anything.
I went to my internist office yesterday to follow up on m UTI and found out that he is retiring. I had kind of thought that he was as he took on an associate late last year. I had asked his daughter then if he was retiring and she said no. She is his office girl and does all of the insurance etc things in the office.
This man has taken care of me since I was so sick in 1991/2 with pancreatitis and he was instrumental in saving my life with the Kane boy doctors (yes, Dr Jimmy and his dad). I have come to know and love this man. He was hard to deal with as he is Oriental and has a tendency to be standoffish. I have come to love him and we have developed a repor with my health care. He and his wife have even been at our house for a Christmas party.
The doctor that he has chosen to take over his practice is really, really good. I have seen him two times so far and I really like him. Dave was in the room yesterday and he really likes him also. Dave is a quick study with observations of people. I still have to figure out if he is pro WLS but for some other issues that I have had going on with me he has been "pushy" to get them resolved and looked into. The retiring doctor pretty much would not have done that. So, for now I do not think that I have to get a new PCP unless the new doc is not pro WLS. I do think that this man will be a doctor to stay with for now as I really do not want to find a new doc.
Thanks for letting me ramble.

Sorry to hear of this. I can relate. I can't seem to find a new PCP since the one I had for over 10 years left the practice (and my insurance coverage). When she first left, I saw an associate of hers and LOVED, LOVED, LOVED her......you guessed it.....she left about a month later. Since then, I tried another doc and that is the one who diagnosed me with an intestinal blockage that sent me to Madison thinking I needed emergency surgery. Turned out I had just what I thought I had.....a bladder infection and the flu.
My medical care is behind as I am skittish about where to turn now.
I am glad that you seem to like the new doc in this practice. That is half the battle.
I hope it all works out well for you!
