sleevers
Revision on 04/19/13
Welcome to the Illinois Board. Lucy and Nicole both have the sleeve. I know Nicole hangs out on the sleeve forum.

Actually, Lucy and Nicolle (me) have the DS (duodenal switch). Part of the anatomy of the DS IS a sleeve (vertical sleeve gastrectomy) BUT the DS also has intestinal malabsorption to keep the weight off once the stomach stretches again and you can eat more. Like the band, the sleeve provides restriction but it also provides some reduction in grehlin, a hormone that helps tell us we are "hungry."
I am 3 years+ out from my DS and I had a pretty small sleeve cut (2.7 ounces) and I can pack away some food now, let me tell you. If I did not have the malabsprtion of the DS working for me, I suspect I would be a calorie-counting nutjob with an exercise fetish OR be regaining my lost weight already.
If you'd like to learn more about the kick-booty DS, visit www.dsfacts.com or the DS forum here on OH (where I hang out).
Best of luck to you!
