pre-op diet
Hello to all,
Starting my pre-op diet tomorrow. Will be fasting monday for pre-op blood work and Upper GI.
Surgery will be Monday April 4 !!! Nerves are really starting to kick in.
I'm so hoping that I will have a smooth transition.
Looking for any words of encouragement , to get me thru this pre-op diet.
Have a great weekend everyone..

The first 2-3 days are the worst but it gets better after that. By the time surgery rolled around it wasn't a big deal. Keep lots of SF popsicles on hand, they really help with cravings.
Just remember stick to your surgeon's diet and don't cheat. This pre-op diet gets you ready for your new life after surgery so cheating now will make it easier to cheat later.
Believe in yourself...I'm sure you can do it. Good luck..and check in here to update us on your progress or if you need to complain about the pre-op diet..."we've all been , there done that"

Hi Jane,
Congrats on starting your final countdown to your life change!! Crystal is so right. The first three days, your body is adjusting to getting those carbs out of your body. I remember having a bad headache in the beginning, but by day three, gone and just going from that point, knowing whatI I had to do to get to that surgery date. It really kinda gets easier after day 3, at least I thought so!! Good luck and keep us posted!

The countdown begins!
Sugar free popcicles were my saving grace. Crystal is right about that. I would go through a good 5 or 6 a day at the minimum and that was the 2 pack!
Hot tea really took the edge off of any hunger that I had. Also I discovered if you mix chicken and beef broth you get a much better tasting soup.
You can do it. I wanted my surgery to be lapriscopic and that kept me from cheating. I just kept telling myself there was no way they were going to start and then have to cancel surgery or have to perform it as an open proceedure because my liver did not shrink enough or I did not loose enough weight! It was my mantra and it worked for me.
Good luck!
