Going to an Information Session this evening

I'm just starting to think about WLS and am going to an Information Session this evening in Joliet.  I've been obese and morbidly obese for years, and obesity runs in my family.  I've done ok with programs like Jenny Craig and Weigh****chers, but I find that the weight always comes back.  I've been excited about the information session, but last night, got really nervous at the prospect of surgery and told my husband  I didn't want to do it.  Then I changed my mind again this morning! LOL.  

I guess there's no reason to get nervous yet.  This is only an information session and who knows if my insurance will even approve me.

I'm thinking of doing the Sleeve.  Has anyone else had that one done?  I've been reading through the forums and trying to learn as much as possible, but I'm nervous about the whole process, nonetheless.

Welcome, and good luck at your seminar. You are right, it can't hurt to go and listen. I had Dr. Joyce for my realize band. He is very nice and extremely knowledgeable. He will answer any questions you have at the seminar. They will take a copy of your insurance card when you register and they can check to see, first of all, if your insurance will cover weight loss surgery and what type it covers. This is not an approval, just a first step to see if your insurance qualifies. You can tell them you are interested in the sleeve....to be honest, I'm not sure if Dr. Joyce does the sleeve, but he can answer that question! Best of luck to you. Georgie

I have Dr. Joyce and I did have the sleeve done on January 24,2011. I love my sleeve and I really like Dr. Joyce. I have lost 77 lbs so far and I couldn't be happier. The seminar BMI Surgery gives is great. They are real honest and take the time to answer questions. The office it's self along with the staff are great. I have no regrets at all.

I had my surgery done at the BMI Center but I had Dr Lahmann...who I love and I think is so wonderful.  He is the kindest doctor.  So I can only imagine that Dr. Joyce is wonderful too. 

They have a great program there.  They do check with your insurance will cover WLS...that way you will know before you waste your time.  They have classes for you to attend to make sure you understand everything that is expected of you and what to expect.  They have great after care.  I think you will really like it there.
