Good morning IL family.

I am at work early today. Didn't exercise today because I hurt my side - left rib area. Tomorrow I'll resume my exercises.

My sis is still at Alexian Brothers. Pray that they decide to do something today. She is still so nauseated and throwing up. It's been a week since she was readmitted.

I have a lot of meetings this morning. Will be happy when they are done.

Happy to see Janet on the boards and wish her and hubby the best outcome with his surgery.

Gotta go!

Have a wonderful Monday.

Hugs,
Lucy

good Morning Lucy and the Illinois board.

I will not leave this morning until7:45. I am sitting here wondering whih one of my 2 co-workers will call in sick this morning. I don't think we have all been to work on a Monday since Xmas.

I didn't do anything yesterday except laundry. It felt good to just be lazy. I really should try it more often.

Lucy, I hope your sister gets the help she needs.

Nancy, have they re-schleduled your surgery yet?

Dawn, I am glad you were able to get the clarification on comp time verses overtime pay.

Georgie, how did the brownie making go?

Christine, there is a large craft sale at the Schrumberg (sp)
High School. I think in September. I did it with jewelry one year, and it was good. There is also  Burgoo in Utica in October, it draws upward of 50,000 people.

Stay safe and warm today,

huggles,
LISA

Lisa, thank you for the info on the fairs. At this time I am only looking at seeing what there is to offer and how people set up their booths. I have The Odeum in Addison coming up the first weekend in April and that fair pulls 500 crafter booths. I will keep Schaumburg and the others in mind.

Hi Lisa.

My sis is still not doing well. She spent the entire day down in radiology and she has another test this morning. I didn't get to talk with her because she was so exhausted when she finally came back to her room. She was crying though and wishes she could just die. That's how bad it is.

I pray today will be better and we get some news from Dr. Guske. I don't know what is going on with him as he hardly has seen her. Mainly the others in the practice. That's one thing that stinks about their practice. Dr. Guske is way too busy and should consider not taking any new patients. He just doesn't have the time.

Thanks for asking.

Hugs,
Lucy

Hello everyone

I'm at work early too (well it's my normal time).  I hurt myself and didn't workout yesterday.  I started to work on hamstrings and I pulled a muscle.  Yesterday I woke up and owie...it hurt.  I usually do my stretching on Sunday but I didn't.  Lucy I am sorry about your sister's health issues.  Did she have WLS and that's why she is having these issues???

I cannot believe how fast the weekends go by.  I am, as my dad would say wishing my life away one week at a time...because I can't wait till Friday again.  Next weekend we lose an hour but we gain more sunlight after work!!!  Yeah!!!  I need my vitamin D.

Reading more of that book.  I am getting to the part where we as women have a problem with weight gain after menopause due to dropping levels of estrogen.  There is an enzyme called lipo-protein lipase (LPL) which tends to stick out of the membranes of cells. As fat drifts through the blood stream, the LPL pulls it into the cells, leading to weight gain. Estrogen battles the LPL, slowing down some of this fat accumulation. When estrogen levels drop, the LPL kicks back into high gear and we gain weight.  A lot of people tend to think that estrogen makes you fat, and that is a misconception. People may think that because women tend to have more body fat than men that it is due to estrogen. That is not the case. Estrogen is actually a hormone which promotes fat breakdown and decreases fat storage. So ladies get on that hormone replacement therapy...is that even safe any more???

Well are you ready to deal with yet another Monday...have a great day.

Ok, so now I have another reason that I am fat.    My hormone replacement therapy lasted until I had multiple MAJOR clots on my lungs.  They yanked me off those things so fast my head was swimming in my instant hot flashes that returned with a vengeance!

I am enjoying all that you are posting.  It makes since.  Too bad it is not more common knowledge.  What is the background of the author?  Does he have a degree in nutrition or physiology?

I copied and pasted this straight from his website.

Taubes studied applied physics at Harvard and aerospace engineering at Stanford (MS, 1978). After receiving a master’s degree in journalism at Columbia University in 1981, Taubes joined Discover magazine as a staff reporter in 1982. Since then he has written numerous articles for Discover, Science and other magazines. Originally focusing on physics issues, his interests have more recently turned to medicine and nutrition.

I am just so interested in  learning why we are fat.  According to Taubes- we're not overweight because we eat too much...we eat too much because we are overweight...I am still reading exactly what he means by this statement...but as far as I can tell he is saying the weight gain comes before the eating....hmmmm.  I have to read carefully because it's alot of science and medical speak...that he is trying to dumb down for normal people but some stuff is still not dumb enough!!! hahahah

But I do like to share some of the info I find surprising

Hi Crystal.

My sister had a huge ventral hernia repair, a tumor removal from her stomach and a gastric sleeve.

She is not doing any better and spent the entire day in radiology yesterday. She has a test this morning. We don't know what is going on. It's almost 2 weeks post-op and over a week that she was readmitted.

She is ready to give up the fight. I don't know what to do for her anymore.

Thanks for asking.
Lucy

Good morning Lucy and the rest of Illinois!

I am working today, then taking David to rehearsal tonight.

The turkey turned out wonderfully and we had the neighbors and one of David's friends over to help eat it all.  It was a very nice evening and gave us all a bit of Spring Fever.  It was nice to be able to be outside, cooking.  Muddy, but fun.

Not much else happening on my end until Firday, when David and I are heading into the city to visit a friend and see the river dyed and the parade.

Have a lovely day!

Tell someone that you love them!
