Saturday Roll Call
I have a hair appt. at 10 and then it is back to doing things in the house. What is going on in your area? Any special plans for the game tomorrow?

here is a copy/paste of an email update that I sent out to my family:
Well, things are looking up in the area of endurance and other small hoops that have been jumped through. Dave was taught today how to go up and down stairs with one crutch and how to use a cane to walk into the bathroom. It has been a little awkward for him to go in sideways with the walker past the vanity in the downstairs bath because it is a narrow space. The pain level is still high and Dave still needs to take 7 or 8 of the pain pills in the course of a day. He also can supplement with one 500mg Tylenol twice a day to help take the edge off of the pain. He has extra pain when the physical “terroristÂ" comes and does her stuff. On Wednesday a team of our neighbors came over and shoveled and blew out our sidewalks and drive. I was able to get the sidewalk that goes around the 2 sides of the garage to the 3 season room. It only took me about 1 hour to do that. I am paranoid of fire (childhood fear after seeing Our Lady of Angels fire movie and a family tragedy) and always am thinking of an egress from any building. Safety first especially when you have an invalid in the house. I was able to get down to my work today for a Super Bowl pot luck and of course sported my Mason Crosby jersey (maiden name is Crosby). The only person that did not hiss at me was one of the sergeants and he is a Cheesehead – I am a wannabee Cheesehead. I was also able to make a run to fill up on gas in my car before the $$ go out of site, grocery store and Target. Thank you to those that have called, sent emails, stopped by with food and visited and those that have sent prayers. Everything is appreciated. I more than likely will go back to work on Monday. I will see when Sunday rolls around. I need to go back so I can REST. Thank God for a sit down job! This girl is tired, but the house is spic n span. It has not been all work as I have been crocheting necklaces (I have not forgotten to post pictures).

I am so excited this morning. I am going with my friend Liz for her first appointment for WLS. She has decided that she wants to do Lap-band and they office is doing a meeting for her today so she can get her info. Only problem is that it is about 1 1/2 hours away in Springfield. They have an office here in Bloomington but the first meeting was not until the middle of March. This is a new WLS Program in Bloomington, It just started at the end of December. The doc comes up from Springfield, all surgies will be there but at least she will beable to do her other appts here in town. They currently only doing Lap-Band with the new program here.
Having some friends over tomorrow for The Game. Think I am making Sloppy Joe sandwiches with ground turkey and hamburger. Scott has asked for pigs n blankets and Morgie wants to make Monkey Bread, not to mention my fried Julie is bring Nacho's. I need to find something a little more to what I should eat. I have a new receipe for Spinach and feta in wonton cups. Let you know how they turn out.
Have a great and wonderful day!
Hello everyone
I am so glad it's Saturday. I was so annoyed yesterday. My dad's cousin (who I never met till now) called me to tell me that since they haven't heard from me they went ahead and bought the food for the service. This really annoyed me because I said I would get it...and then she had the nerve to tell me I was to give my sister $30 to compensate her for the food. Well first of all no one was going to compensate me when I was going to buy food and second of all I know that my sister's money didn't pay for this...my dad's "funeral fund" is paying for all of this. So I have to compensate her for money she never really spent!!! My sister is so greedy. She is inheriting all of the money which is a tidy sum and she wants my measely $30. And this cousin...I think the reason why she crawled out of the woodwork is to get some money too. I don't care about any of it. I'm just going to get through tomorrow and that is it...I'm done.
Christine- I'm so glad everything is moving alone well...but sorry Dave is in pain.
Monica- you should invite your friend to this and the LapBand board. I think it would be good for her to talk to others with the band.
Have a great day...Bye
Christine, I just read back several days to find out what's going on with Dave. I'm glad he came through the surgery ok, and hope the pain starts to dissipate soon. It must be miserable to get through the physical therapy with that much pain. Take care of yourself too!
Monica, it's what, 6 months out from surgery for you? Are you enjoying your results and getting used to the lifestyle? I still have to remind myself to get enough protein, some times I find myself slacking off on the supplements and getting back on track when I get really tired.
Crystal, sorry to hear of your father's passing. It's amazing to me that family can be so horrid when it comes to inheritance money and objects. I know my sister and brother will be greedy as heck when that time comes, so my mom has been very careful to spell EVERYTHING out in her will.
Steve, Emily and I are well. I spent Tues - Thursday in downtown Chicago working and sleeping in a hotel. The hospital negotiated reduced rates for us, or we could stay for free in some empty patient care areas. I'm not up for sleeping among strangers, so I chose to find a friend to room with and the hotel costs weren't bad. It was sure better than the dangerous driving conditions. Steve had to stay home with Emily as she had snow days on Wed. and Thurs. His company basically told everyone to work from home, which was really nice of them.
I went on a cruise a few weeks ago with my mom. I'll post some pictures later. It was nice to get out of the winter weather. Too bad I got back in time for the blizzard!
Yep, I will be 6 mos. out on the 16th. Life is so much more fun and amazing now. We went hiking a few weeks ago at a state park and usually I would be the last one, this time I was the first one up the stairs and not even winded. The 12 year old (Morgan) had to rest when she got to the top!
I have a hard time with the protien and getting enough to drink. I feel like I don't get enough fluids at all.
I hope all are having a great Saturday,
Crystal - I am sorry to hear of the family issues. Just remember, this will be all over soon.
Christine - I am sorry Dave is in pain, but you are doing such a great job taking care of him. In no time, he will back to himself.
Today was a great day for me. Right now, I have the whole house to myself and I am watching the Glee Marathon without interruptions!!!

Today my hubby bought me the Biggest Loser for the WII. I tried it and not expecting, but the scale showed a loss YEAH ME!! I am now 60lbs lighter than when I started this journey. I needed this. I was starting to feel a bit down on myself as my weight is slow to move. I am working hard on making sure I get the protein, and supplements, but I am not perfect. I am finding the food that works best for me right now is turkey lunch-meat and cheese. Thank goodness for Chobani yogurt!!
I also tried on a size 20 jean and they fit!!

My hubby bought the family season passes to Great America and by April I hope to be a size 18. I am pretty sure at that size I can ride all the roller coasters. This year I will be a participant not an observer!!!
Hope all have a great evening!
Debbie
I have been putzing around all day. Doing a little of this and that and the day has passed before I knew it. Nothing speedy, just slow and steady.
Christine, I am glad Dave is able to use the cane and crutch. Now if that was me and crutches .... I would be on the floor.

Crystal, I am sorry your family is giving you such grief. I dont understand why death brings out so much greediness but it does. I just decided that I was lucky with whatever I got and had no expectations so I wasn't disappointed. My sisters cleaned out my mothers stuff at the nursing home so I never even had a chance.

Not much on my agenda this weekend. I do need to pay bills and go to Wally World but that is all.
Have a great weekend!
