Friday Roll Call

Hello everyone

Happy Friday!!!  I can't wait till I get out of here today...of course I will be staying late because of month end.  It will be a long 12-13 hour day here at work.  Then I go work out, then JcPenneys to pick up an internet order, then to Chipotle and finally home...ahhhhh.

My tire was fixed last night.  I didn't need a new tire.  I also forgot to mention I got my Spikys the other day.  Those non-slip cleats you slip on your shoes/ boots.  I have worn them for two days now and they are the best.  At first it felt weird but now I love them.  Walking on ice, snow, slush feels the same as walking on floor.  If you have to deal with icy/snowy parking lots and walk ways and are afraid to fall these are for you.  They are $26 but worth it if it saves you a trip to the ER!!!

I have no big plans this weekend.  I will do my normal house cleaning and relaxing.

Christine-  I will be sending Dave lots of healing vibes today.  Hope he has a fast and painless recovery.

I better get going...have a great day.

Good morning Crystal and IL!

WOW, what is that bright light in the sky!!!???? Haven't seen the sun in too long.  Instantly makes one's mood better!  LOL

Just a quick fly by to say good thoughts and prayers going up for Dave and Christine today.  Prayers to Dave for a very succesful and uneventlu surgery!  Hope you are up and going before you know it.  Christine, thinking about you and your part in his healing process.  Keep us posted.

Glad it is Friday....glad I don't have to work 13 hours...ugh.  The Spikys sound pretty cool!

Olivet University (where's the Bears have summer camp) is dedicating a new, huge pipe organ tonight and having a concert.  Think my friend and will check it out.  It should be AWESOME!

Everyone have a super weekend.

Good Morning,

My thoughts are with Dave and Christine today.

Crystal, it is Friday, so, you don't have to go back to wor****il Monday. Each hour you are at work today, is one hour closer to the W/E for you.

Georgie, the concert at Olivet College sounds like it will be nice.

All I am doing today is picking up the house. I might make some soup later.

I hope everyone has a great day, stay safe and warm.

Huggers,
Lisa

Good morning Crystala nd the rest of Illinois!

I am thinking of Dave and Christine and sending great thoughts and healing energy their way.

I am leaving work about 2 to go get my kids and come back to Rockford for our weekend at the hotel.  Todd's Christmas Party weekend!  Riley is coming to stay tonight so she can go swimming with her favorite Uncle David and Aunti Liv.  We always get pizza and the BEST salad, so I am looking forward to that too.  Tomorrow, I will get lobster as my dinner!  Yee Haw!!!!!

The "Spikeys" sound interesting, maybe I will look into it.

This is the last day of work before the first of my sister-in-laws starts on Monday.  It should be "interesting" to say the least.  I am TRYING to have a positive outlook, but am afraid that it will end badly.

Everyone have a lovely day and weekend!

Tell someone that you love them!

Dawn - http://www.amazon.com/Spiky-Plus-104-Ice-Gripper/dp/B0006HJA 1W/ref=sr_1_18?ie=UTF8&qid=1296267051&sr=8-18 These work great. They have them for all size shoes men and women's. I had to search for a larger size of 10+ but found them. I did a search of several differnet types of things that kept you from slipping on ice and I liked these the best. Some people like the Yak Tracks but I did not like the reviews with the stress to the metal and the straps.

Yes, I agree with Christine about the Yaktraks.  They seem to be the mosty popular but if you read the reveiws on Amazon many people complained about the metal litterally cutting into the straps after only a dozen or so wears.

Good evening!

Well, the road to recovery has finally started!  What a journey I have had.  I had my surgery last Tuesday, 1/18 and on Thursday, 1/20, they had to go back in and remove a blood clot that formed right at the incision at the bowel/stomach.  That caused me to go into septic shock and require me to go to the ICU for four days.  They needed to put in a central line and had a hard time getting my pulse rate down (122 at one point) and my blood pressure.

After I finally got back to a normal room, my second big incision got infected.  Because the wound was super deep, I had to have a wound nurse come and take a look.  I am now attached to a wound vacuum and a home nurse has to come 3x a week to clean it out and re-pack it.  They say probably 4-5 weeks.

I will say, my surgeon, Dr Kane, was fabulous.  So was my primary care doctor, Dr. Nandkumar.  But Alexian Brothers Hospital.......not the greatest.  A lot of issues during my stay.  I did have a couple awesome nurses, but not all.  The night before my second surgery, I threw up 7 times and hit the button for the nurse and they didn't come in to check on me for 4 hours.

So, I'm glad to be home!  Some food (or liquids since that's all I can drink) are still going right through me.  I am trying to make sure I get all my vitamins and protein in.

Thanks to you all for the well wishes.  I will admit, some of my earlier posts were done under a lot of powerful drugs....so I hope I was somewhat literate!

Have a good friday night!

Jules,
So sorry to hear about your surgical problems.  Will say some prayers for you.  One just never knows  when this stuff is going to happen.  Take it easy.  I'm sure you will feel better at home.  Take care of yourself.
