Morning IL. Thought I would pop in and start the day off. Like I said a couple of days ago I might be scarce for the next few weeks during Dave's hospital stay and when he comes home. The surgery is set for 10AM this Friday.

I have a few things to attend to in the house right after work and then we have a visitation in Arlington Heights for one of Dave's friends.

What is happening in your corner of IL?

Hello everyone

Ahhh where to start.  I did have a wonderful day and Amanda picked out her dress.  Everything including the undergarments cost $1000 (but the alterations are another 150-250).  She doesn't want to wear a veil....just a flower in her hair).  She picked out a very pretty dress.  The dresses looked great on her because she is so petite.  The pictures I took didn't do the dresses any justice and Amanda looked much tinier in person than she looked in the pictures.  I will probably post pictures later today when I'm out of work.

The excitement started on my way home.  I got a flat tire...literally in the middle of no where.  There wasn't even a farm house near by.  I managed to get myself to the next town.  But it was like a ghost town.  No businesses (just abandon buildings) no street lights, no moon light...it was completely black (I couldn't see anything past my headlights).  I pulled into the parking lot of an abandon building and called 911.  Stayed on the phone with my daughter till he showed up 40 minutes later.  He was the nicest guy.  He at first told me he would be able to direct me but he can't actually do any of the work.  I thought OK fine...good experience for me...but he ended up doing the work...hahaha.  The problem came when he took the lug nuts off and the stupid tire wouldn't come off.  It was like my tire was frozen on to my car.  No matter what he tried he couldn't get the tire off.  He then told me that the Fire house for the township was close enough by that he would stop in there to see if they had any tools.  Before he left he made sure I was inside the car with the doors locked...and said if anything bad happen while he was gone that I should drive off, even with my tire the way it was.  Then he was gone for about 15 minutes with the fire chief.  Then the whole fire house showed up (about 5-6 vehicles) all for my little tire.  They did get my tire off and my spare on.  But the air pressure was low.  So they had me follow them to the fire house.  Hahahaha I had a police and fire escort to the fire house.  They got air in my tire and offered me some water and food (isn't that the nicest thing).  They were the best bunch of guys.  I'm telling you people in small towns are so sweet.  If this happened by me in Aurora or Naperville... no one and I mean no one would have helped ( I know this from experience).  On top of all that my stomach was bothering during this whole 2 hour ordeal.  I tend to get diarrhea when I'm stressed or upset.  So I drove to the next town about 12 miles down the road and hoped there was a gas station open...thank god there was....So I did finally get home but not till after 12 and I got up at 4:30 so I will be a tad tired today.  And there is my story.  If I had any vacation time coming I would have taken the day off today!!!

So see you guys later.  Have a great day.

Crystal, what a story!  Glad you are ok....but all of that takes time, for sure.  Small towns are great!  I see on FB you were in Sibley?  I'm not even sure where that is, I'll have to look it up.  What town did you stop in where the gas station was open?  I think one time you said you go 57 to Champaign.  I should give you my contact info for me in Manteno to throw in your glove compartment.  That way if you ever had trouble in that area, I could either give you advice on who to call or come get you!  You never know when the weather is going to turn bad or you have car trouble.  PM me if you'd like some contact info.

Glad everything worked out, but understand how tired you'll be today.  TAke it easy tonight!

I decided at the last minute to go 47 back home.  I was stranded in Sibley and the next town over was Strawn...another small town but not quite as small as Sibley...at least Strawn had a gas station!!!  Thanks for the offer of help.  I will have to PM you tonight...if I remember.  I'm so absent minded lately.

Now I know where you were.  When I have taken Chloe's mom from Mahomet up to Alextian Brothers Hospital, I have gone up 47 to catch 55 @ Dwight.  Now know just where you were...and YES...not much at ALL around there!!

Good Morning Christine and IL!

Christine, I will send up some prayers for Dave and you on Friday and ongoing.  Hope things go very smoothly and he is strating to recover in no time!

No much going on around here.  I have a Women in Business luncheon today, which I leave work for...and then when I got home last night there was a raeminder from my retina doctor that I have an appt at 2:30 today.  Since it is in the same area as my luncheon, I decided to take half a day off work and I can kill some time shopping before going to my appt!  Unexpected time off, YEAH!

Not much else going on.  Have a super day.

Good Morning.

Tell Dave we are thinking of him.

Crystal, that happened to me one time in Champaine. But it was a warm Saturday afternoon. Nightime would of scared me too.

Georgie, hve a great afternoon off work. Even if you have to go to the Drs.

I am working today, then going out for dinner. Last night I was on the wii, and  worked on a scrapebook page from our trip to DC this past summer.

Good morning Chris and the rest of Illinois!

I am thinking of you guys as you go through this surgery and recovery.

I am working today and Olivia finally broke down and decided to stay home.  She has an appointment with the doc at 4 and Todd is going to take her.  She is just not getting any better and it seems to be in her chest.  Makes me worry about bronchitis, which can turn into pneumonia if we are not careful.  Maybe it is just the bad viral stuff going around, but either way, we need to get her better and hope no one else gets it.

Crystal....what an adventrue!  I live in one of those very, very small towns and the same would have happened to you in Rock City.  I can just see the escorts!  I would have been scared out of my wits too and am glad that you are safe and everything turned out well.  You are also SO lucky that you foind a dress on the first day!

Besides all that, I went to the Drama meeting for my middle schoolers last night and I am pretty sure it is not going to work out between me and "the director".  She just micro-manages EVERYTHING and I don't need the stress.  I will offer to take on the high school group and see what happens from there.  I need to stick with the little ones for a short while until it can all get sorted out through the "Board".

That's about it for me today!
Wishing you all a very happy day!

Tell someone that you love them!

 Good Evening Everyone!

Well, the next time I complain that I am in a rut, will someone PLEASE tell me to shut up?  I was thinking about what a rut my life was on the way to work this morning.  Soooooo, the man upstairs decided to shake up everything today and had everything that could go wrong do so!  By 4 pm I emailed my supervisor and said " Uncle, I surrender"    I don't think there was anything else that could have possibly gone wrong today.  I am glad today is over!

Christine, tell Dave he is in my thoughts and prayers for Friday.  Also, forewarn him that I had a really strange experience during my first knee surgery.  I woke up and heard them sawing on my knee and then woke up again and heard them hammering.  I was not put under as "dead meat" but given a spinal and then twilight sleep.  I did not feel anything but the expression on my face must have been priceless because the anesthesiologist was very quick to assure me that he would get me back to sleep right away and he did.    I have to admit it was a little disconcerting to wake up and hear a saw being used on you.

Crystal, I worked in the area you were stranded in for over 15 years but about 15 miles to the east.  I know how small those towns are and yes, there are no lights.  The country is pitch black.  But the people are the salt of the earth and would do anything for you.  I never was afraid when I was out late at night.  We did not have the crime that urban areas do.

Well, I am going to shut up now.  Everyone have a great evening!

It was pretty creepy there at night stranded all by yourself.  I kept thinking of the movie Children of The Corn...I thought a bunch of psycho kids were going to come out and carry me to the corn fields to feed me to the corn god...hahaha.  No seriously I wasn't worried about the towns people, I was more worried about an out of town driver coming through on 47 and seeing me stranded and pulling over.  I watch too many movies and crime shows.

The towns people were the nicest people.  It makes me want to live in a small town like that.  That feeling of community and to know everyone by name.  That would be nice.
