Tuesday Roll Call
Hello
I am so annoyed with my landlord and the building management at work. Last night it was so icy in my parking lot at work I almost fell several times. I had to hold on to cars to get to my car safely. This was the worst condition of a parking lot I have ever seen. To get in the parking lot there is a slight incline in the walkway. I couldn't get up the incline. I would walk half way up and slide right back down. After doing this a few times I just let myself slide all the back down and walked in the snow. Then knowing how well snow and ice removal is done at home, I picked up some salt. I basically salted myself a path to my door. I shouldn't have to risk life and limb to walk. I am telling you if I fall and hurt myself at work or home, I am not going to be paying the hospital bills and someone will be paying me my lost wages. I am so mad right now. If I'm having problems then I can only imagine how much trouble an older person or someone with physical problems. Ughhh!!! I will be sending complaints to both my landlord and work. This morning it was bad also

Crystal, your complaint is justified. It is terrible the way sidewalks and parking lots are not taken care off. I would be calling the landlords too.
Off to work in a few, it doesn't seem like we got any ice. our temp is at 34'. But, I know its supose to fall.

Morning early birds!
Crystal, you have every right to be upset. We have a bank right across the street from the PD that used to be a LaSalle Bank and now is Bank of America. Well, LaSalle always cleaned the 2 city sidewalks. The new one does not. One has to walk out in the street at times which is dangerous.
There is something that you can buy and it is called Spiky. I got mine off of Amazon.com and there is something else called Yak Trak. I did not like the reviews for Yak Trak and ended up with Spiky. They slip over your shoe or boot and have little steel spikes sticking out. They really help. I had them on this morning and I was sure footed all the way to work. I wear an 11 so I am able to get them over my boots and shoes. They are made of stretchy rubber. One has to watch on interior floors to not wear them because they will mar it.
At work 'til 4 and then home to do more crocheting. I stayed up last night perfecting what I was doing. I could not stop, it is so fun.

Good morning Crystal and the rest of Illinois!
You have every right to be upset, Crystal. I just don't know what some people are thinking.
My drive home last night took longer than usual, but I made it. No ice here at all, just snow. When I got home, my husband was very cranky because the snow blower stopped working. It is ALWAYS something. We need to win about $20,000 in the lottery or something, just yo pay things off and get ahead.
I am working on a letter to the Board of Directors at the Playhouse making them aware of the situation with the "director". I don't know if it will help, but I HAVE to at least make them aware.
Not too much else happening around here. I am trying to get Todd to decide if he wants to have people over for the game or if he wants to go somewhere. I would prefer to stay close to home or go directly into the city. We will see.
I am thinking of Jules who should be in surgery now. Good luck!

Hello all!
Surgery went well! It only took 45 minutes and I have been in and out all day. Taking advantage of the pain meds! My biggest pain is actually my shoulder from the gas from the surgery. I have been up and moving. A big bummer is I have my period now too......Yuck! So I had to take care of that and that took all my energy I had!
Crystal......I would file complaints with both landlords! That's crazy! Go get em!
Decided today that the Bears game on Sunday wouldn't be a good idea
My first date with my husband four years ago was the Bears/New Orleans game so I'm kind of bummed we are not going. But I will snuggle up on the couch with him and Jack (the kitty) and enjoy the game that way!
I will try to write again tomorrow and I hope all of you have a great nigh!

It is great to see you posting! You must have the fastest surgeon in the midwest! I think my RNY took 2 or more hours. I am glad you made it through ok,. That gas pain is horrible! Mine hit in my neck. The more you walk, the quicker it will go away so the mantra goes, walk, walk, walk and sip, sip and sip. That will be your life for the next few weeks.
Jack will be a nice tummy warmer for the Bears game! Go Bears!

I feel sorry for you too. I would be mad as well. That is one thing I am thankful for. Our office does a superior job of cleaning and salting our parking lot. The only trouble spots are between the cars.
However, as a homeowner, I am not immune. I went out this morning and almost landed on my tush getting to my car. My driveway was a good imitation of a skating rink. It had been shoveled yesterday and the deck had been salted but we had freezing rain and sleet after that and if you dont go out and do it yourself, it doesn't get done. I need a salt fairy!
I am overly afraid of falling between my back and my artificial knees. Dont want to damage my knees by going down on them and the back already hurts enough. Sigh.

I'm afraid of falling also. I'm afraid because if I break any bones I will be out of work for awhile and I would have a big cut in pay (I do have short term disability at work but it only pays 60% of my pay). As a single person i'm the only one bringing in an income (well you know the feeling). I am also worried that hurting myself would mess up my work out routine. I would probably gain weight because I can't move around.
Then you see someone in high heels running over the same stretch of ground. How does that work? Cheryl and I both went down on the same piece of ice the first year we were here. She went down and then I went down when I went to help her. We were both laying in the parking lot like turtles on our backs looking up at thye balconies of our building and wondering how we were going to get up.
