Welcome to the IL board.

Have you gone into the very first "sticky" post and looked to see if your question could possibly be answered there. That post is always there. There have been a lot of people that have put great info in the thread.

I was told there is no real pre-approval process.  They never submitted anything, and my surgery was last Monday.  You just have to meet the following requirements:

  • BMI greater than 40 -or- BMI between 35 and 39.9 with serious medical complications.
  • History of active participation in non-surgical methods of weight reduction. Must be fully documented in the medical record.
  • Documentation that endocrine disorders have been ruled out.
  • Psychiatrist/Psychologist consultation and clearance.
  • Documentation of Nutritional Counseling
  • Pre- and Post-Operative dietary evaluation and nutrition counseling.

As I said, my surgery was Monday, January 17 and my first consultation was October 29.  My surgery would have been sooner, but the surgeon was out of town.

Good luck!

Thanks I finished all the requirements yesterday and was told to call today to get my papers sent in to medicaid and when I called she said she sent it in and was already approved. My next preop appt with the surgeon is Feb 23. Thanks Again
