Tuesday Roll Call
Hello everyone
Well just as I expected it was crowded in the gym yesterday. I figure it will thin out after a week or two. The only thing I changed for the New Year is that I decided I needed to start measuring my food. I always tried to eyeball the serving size, especially with meat. Well just in the few days doing this I am realizing I was over serving myself. Not by a whole lot but every little bit helps.
When I thought about anything else I need to change, I realized I pretty much follow the rules.
No plans, except for work and working out...of course.
Christine- Make sure you let us know when that article comes out...post a link.
Nancy- I love little kids at Christmas time. I miss when Amanda was little. I guess I have grandchildren to look forward to...in about 7-8 years (not too soon). Is it bad I'm already looking forward to my grandchildren.
It's going to be a little chilly today. Dress warm. Have a good day.

'Morning all!.
Crystal, measuring is always a good thing as we can get sloppy with our portions. You will probably find that the gym will be heavy with people up to about 6 weeks after the holidays. That is the time frame that most doctors find that people throw in the towel and go to a seminar for WLS. It is usually the same time frame for regular people that start a diet regime.
Not much for me on my end also after work. I think that I might skoot home after work and go out for a brisk walk before it gets dark.

ps I have proofed the article and will be sending it back to the reporter later on today. I will give the link when I get it.

Good Morning Everyone!
I am home today. I have already been to the hospital for part 1 of my tests and then will go back again for part 2.
I am sorting through papers and trying to get some things cleared out of here. I would love to see bottom again! I am also going to pay bills to day and hit the grocery store. Right now I am full of energy. We will see how long that lasts.
.
Crystal, we only nagged for 16 years before we saw a little one.
These darned kids that waited until their late 30's to have kids were driving us crazy. They would not cooperate at all!
Everyone have a great day!

Good afternoon Crystal and the rest of Illinois!
I am back at work after my mini-vacation.
First thing I learned this morning is that our business is soon to become a real "family affair". My boss (who is my husband's step-father) is expanding into a new area and has now decided to hire 3 other family members. The expansion is good, but I will reserve judgement about the family members. They are not easy to get a long with on a normal day and I am wondering how I will manage having to deal with them EVERY day.
When this business was started, it was agreed that family members would NOT be hired as it would be very destructive in many ways. He had to BEG me to work here and I have NEVER been given any "special" treatment. As a matter of fact----he treated/treats me WORSE than the other employees just to make his point. Soon, I will have to train one of my more unpleasant sister-in-laws to work in the office and another of the SIL's will be working in the shop. Fun, fun, fun.......I will hope for the best, but I do not see much good coming of this.
Crystal, I think I might have to join you with the measuring. It has been a while and it could not jurt! Good for you! I am very impressed with how well you are doing! I would even say, "inspirational"!
I wish everyone a spectacular day!

You are too sweet. I know everyone keeps remarking about how well I'm sticking to my workouts but the funny thing is I'm just as amazed as everyone else. This is a first for me. I never stuck to a workout for more than a few weeks. Believe me I rarely enjoy the treadmill and I have to push myself. I keep waiting to "like" it...but I guess for me it will always be a chore, like washing the dishes.

Hello cyber friends,
Well, tomorrow is the big return to work. To say I am nervous is an understatment. I have not been to work for almost 1 month. It is almost like returning after summer break. I am very excited to get back to a schedule again. While I was recovering I became to comfy with my catnaps and just being lazy. Not really lazy but you know what I mean after the surgery. I am hoping/looking forward to once back at work, and I am on a schedule that the weight will come off even easier.
In a few minutes I am off to pick up my girl and then she and I will go to the gym. I have been such a negative influence on her these last few yrs. She is headed down the path I lived and I feel so horrible. The one truely positive outcome of this surgery, is I have had to change all my grocery shopping habit. I find I am reading labels more closely plus I am totally avoiding the soda isle as well as the chips. Without those items in the house, I am no longer demonstrating snacking, instead, I am getting myself healthy. I am so hoping these new habits of mine rub off on her.
Last night I made a butterball turkey breast for dinner. High in protein!! I took about 2oz and cut the turkey up into tiny pieces. Well, second time with turkey and second time I became very sick. I had the "foamies" for over 2hrs. I have never, not do I wish to ever again, felt so horrible. I think for now I will stay away from Turkey. Must be to grainy. I do great with tuna and other fish, So tuna it is!!
Have a great day
Debbie

Hi Debbie,
Try the dark meat of chicken and turkey. I can't do white meat either even with gravy. Even though it looks moist it must be too dry for me. Quite a few people at our support group say they cannot do chicken breasts even after years. I also do very well with steak medium rare which is surprising. Shrimp works well too for a variety. Best of luck.

Hello IL People!
I am having my surgery two weeks from today and I have been reading your posts for a few days now. It seems you are all very close-which is great! I live in Woodstock....barely in IL
Hope you all are having a great Tuesday! I'm on my second day of meal replacement drinks and it's not too awful yet!
Take care,
Julie

Julie, welcome to the board. You have picked a fantastic doctor. Jimmie and I go back years and years. . . I will not go into it here but I was a patient of his back in the early '90's and he saved my life with a gall bladder issue.
My DH had his WLS with Dr Rantis. If you see Donna at the office tell her I said hello!

He doesn't seem like a man that likes being called Jimmie! He has done a breast biopsy and removed my gallbladder in the past. I like him a lot so I knew he would be the dr for this procedure.
I will say hello to Donna if I see her!
BTW-what is a NUT? I keep seeing that here but I have no idea what it means!
