3 Months Surgianniversary
Good morning everyone.
Wishing everyone a Happy, Healthy and Safe Thanksgiving!
I am truly grateful this year because of my DS.
Today - day of the week I am 3 months post-op (Tomorrow by actual date)!
I am so happy and just love
my DS. No more bouts of vomiting because of my band. I enjoy the foods I can eat because of the DS. Carbs are another story and I am working on them.
I feel so much stronger and better everyday. I am back to my workout schedule with the trainer as well as doing my 45 minutes on the elliptical. Tomorrow I am walking a 5K Turkey Trot and my goal is to complete it in less than 45 minutes.

I have no regrets about the revision to DS. My only regret would be that I should have done it sooner. Dr. Rabkin and his staff are the very best
.
I am having my 3 month labs done on Monday - I don't want to wait until 6 months - in case I have any deficiencies. Now, I only wait to see if my hair starts falling out. But I am ready for it. I have lots of wigs to wear if it gets bad.
I am so looking forward to the holidays and the new year. I will get to goal in 2011. I know that as a revision my weight loss won't be as fast as a new DS. I can accept that as I am living my life to the fullest. 31 pounds in three months is great for me. I am wearing smaller clothes and my body is getting more shapely again.
Thanks to everyone here for your support and words of wisdom during this journey and lifestyle.
I am indeed a happy camper today.
Hugs,
Lucy

Congrats on your surgiversary !
I can't believe that it has already been 3 months! Boy time has flown. At least for me, maybe not for you. I am very glad that you are happy with your decision. I am watching you and wondering if I dare take the move as well. I admire your courage and willingness to take that VERY major step!
Congrats on your surgiversary !

Hi Nancy.
Thanks for the well wishes. I can't believe that 3 months have gone by!
It was a difficult decision for me for many reasons - cost (because my insurance denied to pay), very complicated surgery, having to go out of state to have the procedure, time off from work, etc... But I knew that I couldn't go on with my situation. My knees were getting bad and I needed to lose the regain. I was so ashamed of falling off the wagon to such an extent.
Could of, should of, etc. was in my mind. But that didn't help me turn things around. That was stinkin' thinkin!
I am a tough bird and got that from my Dad.
Of course I would love to lose faster but that is not in the cards. I am happy that I am well on my way and soon will be out of the 200's again - for the last time!
Being cut open was no easy decision. After all, I went through several plastic surgeries and now I have a vertical scar from the chest bone to the navel. I will have to live with that scar for the rest of my life. Alas, I do have a life to live.
More people should know about the DS - and I wish that more docs would get their training and experience in doing the DS.
I am so glad that I don't have any more dumping or vomiting from both procedures. Now I can take Advil, etc. for pain and not have to take any narcotics. My knees are better so I can put off a knee replacement for some time. I am trying not to be so hard on myself. I think that did me in as well.
Once I get to goal, maintenance will be something I have to work at for the rest of my life. I didn't learn that after the RNY. I will now!
Wishing you and your family a Happy, Healthy and Safe Thanksgiving.
Hugs,
Lucy
