So much pain since yesterday

I am glad to hear you went in.  I wanted to reply but had to leave for the hospital myself.  I thought of a blockage too.  Or turkey might just not agree with you this soon out.  I hope they get to the bottom of this fast.  pain is not fun!  Also it is VERY easy to get dehydrated post op.  That is why they are always on us to sip, sip, sip.   I guess it can cause some severe reactions as well.

Hugs.   and let us know what they find out!  Some pain post op is normal but not what you are describing.  Keep in mind your new pouch is like a baby's tummy, start that food slowly and introduce just a little at a time so if something disagrees with you you will be able to identify it.  I have a few offenders on my list that my pouch hates and cause me terrible pain.  Dumb pouches

Hi everyone! I am home. Got in late last night. Well, no blockage or leak thank God. They said I might have started on the solid food too quick (turkey!). I am back on the pureed and liquid for the next couple of days. Also, they said I was doing to much. Cleaning the house, walking the dog. I guess I pushed a little too fast. I am just going to rest now. I was dehydrated, but I had IV fluids which helped. I am not going to rush starting the solid food. I am going to take time and let myself heal. That was the worse pain I have felt in a long time. Thanks everyone for the concern and well wishes. I just wish I could of gone with the Lap Band instead of this. I really dont know at this point how I am going to get through this. IT SUCKS!!!

You will get through this.  I had a really strict surgeon and my diet was mostly purees until I was 3 months out. Other people who also had my surgeon and I joke that we have cast iron pouches that are not fickle like a lot of peoples.  We think it is thanks to her strict guidelines early out from surgery.  I did just fine.

I became very fond of  pureed refried bean topped with cheese, pureed cottage cheese that I would flavor with spices and sometimes olives blended in, yogurt, protein shakes, protein ice cream,  scrambled eggs, oatmeal,  soups, baby food, applesauce,  canned chicken chopped really fine, a little mayo and chopped eggs,  all veggies except corn, peas, tomatoes and tomato sauce, and potatoes, canned fruit in its own juice, no oranges or grapefruit, low fat or fat free cheeses, cheese sticks, I would make a bean salad with green, kidney, chick peas, yellow beans etc and marinate them in low fat italian dressing.  Cut beans up finely before eating.

I was told that my pouch did not fully heal until 3 - 5 months after surgery.  Luckily I am not one that gets bored eating the same thing.  Since I wasn't eating much at a time, a different flavor of yogurt or cottage cheese and fruit was an adequate change of pace.  I really like soups like split pea, ham n beans, white turkey chili, etc.

The time goes by faster than you think.   Also the freedom of having to think about what to fix for dinner was really nice.  You did not have a lot of choice but it was easy to fix and quick.  And it did not take a lot to fill you up.

Find something that you enjoy with your water.  If you cannot tolerate plain water there are protien flavored fruit powders that you can add to water and it becomes a fruit flavored drink like an orangeade or grape drink.  Also I really have learned to love the little packets that you can get to add to your water and they come in so many flavors.  I often buy the generic kind at Walmart.  I am partial to their peach flavor and their cranberry flavor.

If you ever have questions or need ideas, just yell!  I am at 815.223.0012
