So much pain since yesterday
I am really worried. I am in alot of pain. I have this weird bloated feeling and ain in my left side. I started the soft food diet yesterday and ever since, I am in pain. I thought it might be normal so I just decided to go to bed early last night. I woke up a bit ago and now, even when I move or take a deep breath in, I get that pain in my side. Did I do something wrong?? Even Tylenol isnt helping. I am afraid to eat or drink because I dont know if I did something to my pouch. All I had yesterday was a bit of string cheese, bean soup, and a piece of thin cut turkey. Please, any inut would be helpful .
Oh Lisa, so sorry. I did not have my surgery laproscopically but from all that I have read the most discomfort will be on the left side because that is where they put the largest instruments in for the surgery. You might still have some of the gas in you from when they blow up your belly and it is trapped still. From what I understand it gets trapped on the left side and near the left shoulder. Walking and burping is what I understand will relieve the discomfort. Stay on top of your pain med schedule to keep the pain at bay.
By all means call your docs office to put your mind at ease.

Lisa, I am not sure if your pain is RNY related, but I think if I were you, I would call your doctor and try to get in to see him today.I wouldn't hurt to check this out.

I am going to call when the office opens at 8am. I don't thinl its gas. I didn't have this pain when I went into see the dr on Tuesday. After I ate the turkey yesterday I felt really bloated after. The pain has gotten worse since. I am so scared that I messed up, but I followed all of the directions the dietician gave me so I don't know what happened.
I am 17 post op from RNY and last week was still painful in some areas. Ask them for something stronger than tylenol. That helped me get through. Take it easy and don't stress about anything cuz sometimes emotional stress can cause discomfort. We all tolerate food differently. I had pain from small amount of chicken soup so just take it easy and eat maybe some mashed potates, cooked cereal or try some crackers and lowfat cheese. Keep in touch and let us know how your doing. I had my wls at NW on Oct 18 and this is the 3rd week and I am finally feeling somewhat normal. They move alot of our organs around for the surgery and they have to heal too. Take care, Linda
