Hello IL!  Vote early and vote often, errrrrr sorry only Crook CO people supposedly do that. We took advantage of early voting a couple days after the polls opened.

I am only into work for 1/2 day due to taking Dave to the ortho doc at 1.

What is going on in your part of IL?

 &

ps I will be glad to not see the ads for politicians on OH

Hello everyone

I am voting after work and after my workout.  Nothing like voting when your all sweaty.  I worked out yesterday and I was planning on taking it easy on the treadmill but as I started to walk my muscles started to loosen up and feel better and better.  So I didn't hold back on the treadmill.  I did some stretching afterward and this morning the muscle pain in my legs is all gone!!!  Yeah!!!

I forgot to mention that over the weekend I bought myself a new pair of pants one size too small.  I want to see if I can get into them by Christmas.  I thought this would be a good incentive.  It's one thing to see the scale go down but it's another to fit into pants you couldn't fit into before.  So I will be looking forward to wearing my new pants!!!

Christine- I hope your husband is doing much better.

Well back to work (yuck)...see ya later

Good morning Illinois!

I started back at the fitness center on Sunday. My first workout was tough but I got through it. Yesterday I went and did 30 minutes on the  elliptical on level 2 and by the time I got home, I sure felt it. My muscles are all sore. I took today off.

Working the next 2 days and then heading to Houston and meeting Willow for the Houston OH conference. Can't wait!!!

Work is so busy. Not much time to think about anything else.

I'll be having my vitamin levels checked at the end of this month, as I will be 3 months post-op. I am happy with my DS but definitely the carbs are gas producers! Whew!!!!

Crystal, you'll get into those smaller size pants in no time!! I can tell you that because I got measured and weighed at the fitness center yesterday and it's so amazing the number of inches I lost since I've been working out.

Chris, hope Dave is feeling and getting better.

Hugs,
Lucy

Good Morning Illinois,

As much as I hate winter, I will be glad when DST is done on Sunday, I think I hate waking up in the dark of night even more.

We will go vote after I get home this afternoon. Not sure who I will be voting for, but I will exercise my right to vote.

Heading to work shortly, on what I know will be a long day.

I hope the Dr. gives Dave some good news.

Crystal, I did the same thing with pants. I don't think I lost so much more weight, other then it shifted. But it is nice to be able to get into a large, not an X size.

Have a safe day,

Hugs,
LISA

Good morning Chris and the rest of Illinois!

I am hoping that Dave gets good news at the ortho today.

Work, work, work.....here and at home.  I am tackling my upstairs bathroom.  I needed to bleach the walls to rid them of mildew and do plaster repairs.  Next, I will paint with "Kilz" then I need to pick a color and paint the whole room.  At the rate I am going, it will take another week or so.  I will need to get the boys to help as the ceilings are very high.  Oh well....maybe it will be done by my birthday.

Not too much else happening here.  Crystal is inspiring me to work harder, so that is good.  I also need to take a good look at my food, as I have gained a couple of pounds and don't know why.  Back to tracking for a few days, I guess.  GRRRRRR!  I HATE tracking/journaling.

Everone have a lovely day!

Dawn-  That's so sweet.  I have to say my friends basically dragged me to go to the gym with them.  They are the best.  Maybe if you find friends that are willing to push you (and you push them too).  If it wasn't for them I wouldn't have stuck it out.  When I first started going I hated it and didn't want to go at all.  But I went because they were going.  Now I am motivated enough by my own weight loss that they don't need them to nag me any more.  They are the best cheerleaders.  I think people need someone in their life to cheer them on and make a big deal about the 4 pounds you lost.

I remember you saying it takes 6 weeks to make a habit...well I only have 2 more weeks to go.  Hopefully, this will be a habit.  Too many of my habits are bad for me.

 Good Evening Everyone

I seem to be getting home late these days.  But I thought I would post anyway.  We have been really busy at work and I have ended up working overtime.

We did not win the halloween contest.  I kind of figured that we wouldnt as there were 2 teams with a jail theme.  The team that won, used the same theme that our team used last year and we had won last year.  I  dont think they should reward a team for duplicating a winning idea the following year but it is all in fun.

Today, I am somewhat down.  Dont have any idea why.  As I was heading to work I got an overwhelming case of missing both my parents.  They both died in October so fall is always a poignant reminder of them.  But out of the blue I wa**** hard with missing them and feeling that loss all over again.  I dont know what brought it on.    I hadn't even been thinking of them when that feeling came.  It will pass.

This week promises to be busy at work.  Crystal, congratulations on all your progress.  Lucy, is sounds like you are heading in the right direction too.  Lisa, I agree with you, I am ready for light in the morning but I will miss it at night.

Have a great evening everyone!

No matter how late it is you should post.  I always read your posts.

Who knows why we will all of the sudden think of our loved ones.  I will sometimes think of my grandma and how proud she would be of my daughter. I have sort of a funny story...at least I think it's cute.  One time back when Amanda was 12, we were shopping at Kmart.  All of the sudden Amanda says "hey look at that lady she looks like grandma"  and she did, she really did.  We ended up following her all around the store just so we could keep watching her.  It was funny because the poor lady probably thought we were nuts or creepy stalkers.  You can tell she kept looking at us weird.  After that Amanda and I kept talking about funny things my grandma said or did.  We will still talk about the time we stalked some poor women around the store and laugh

Maybe turn your sorrow into something funny like we did.

It's only Tuesday? I feel like it should be Thursday night, at least. ;)

Felt so tired yesterday I feel asleep at my desk at work and went to bed early at home. I'm getting all my protein, and am five weeks out from surgery. First time I've felt exhausted. Bizarre. Didn't feel so tired today.

My pain-shot for my arthritic hip just wore off. Ouch! Extreme pain to walk. Must book an appt for a new one. What a lifesaver that shot is!

I saw my nut today b/c I was so fearful about my calories, my vite/supp regimin, and my weight loss goals. I'm still frustrated, as her advice was: Don't worry about calories. Don't worry about weight-loss goals. Don't worry about your vits/supps, just take 2 Flintstones, B-12, and calcium citrate w/ D anytime of day.

I'm sorry, but this is not enough guidance for me. I can eat a ton of food, so I really need the calorie limit. It's called Weight-Loss Surgery, so I'm kinda interested in what rate I'd roughly loose the weight. And, from what I've heard on OH and read, the whole "take two Flintstones" is not gonna cut it. I had prepared to take Centrum Silver, iron w/ vite C later in the day ("alone, together"), B-12, zinc, dry A & dry E, plus calcium citrate w/ vite D three times later in the day. --- But, she told me to take take 2 Flintstones, B-12, and calcium citrate w/ D anytime of day. Then, wait until my labs reported deficits. My D is already as low as it should go, at 30. I want to hit 100. She doesn't seem to care, and this leaves me very frustrated. I even pulled out a copy of the guidelines discussed so frequently on the RNY board. Sigh. I don't know what to do.

Well, at least I did learn that, yes, I am eating too many calories. My portions should be smaller, and I must cut out my spicy-trail-mix addiction, all nuts/seeds, all "bites" of a cookie, chocolate (even dark), or other similar items. I've been testing out these items looking to find out if I dump. I don't seem to dump on, say, a tablespoon of pumpkin pie. So, I'm OK with cutting this stuff out, but I had thought for a minute there that my post-op diet could accommodate a few candy corn on Halloween. Guess not.

You are right!  2 Flintstones does NOT cut it.  Now, you CAN use Children's chewable vitamins as your multi-vite, twice per day (1 morning, 1 evening) if you wish in ADDITION to the others that YOU LISTED.  I compare the values on the labels and prefer chewables in everything I can get in chewable form.

For the first 3.5 years, I used Wal-Mart's generic children's chewable multi-vites with great test results.  I now use Centrum chewables as there are a few higher counts of some things and the cost is not THAT much higher.  If the cost increases, back to those I will go.

I also take LOTS of other stuff too.  I do triple the "dosage" of chewable iron with 500 mg chewable C each morning------EARLY (like 4:00 am)---I do this when feeding the cat and taking a potty break.  Then, back to bed for another hour-1.5 hrs.

On my way to work, I use a protein shake to take, B100 complex, folic acid, dry E, Dry A&D, 3 biotin, a probiotic, chewable multi and a few other things (not so much related to WLS).

While I work, I take 5 doses of chewable calcium citrate with (separate) dry D.  Each dose is 500 mg of calcium (all we can absorb at one time) with a 2000 mg. dry D....chewed up at least 1.5 hours apart.

Before bed (usually with another shake) I take a multi-vite, probiotic, 2 stool softeners and a couple more of those others not really related to WLS.

Some nutritionists don't really "get it"...mine included.  Go with your research and do what is best for YOU.  When I followed my nutritionist's advice, I gain 10 pounds that STILL won't leave me.
I was also told (by the blood specialist) that I would NEVER absorb iron and have to have 2-3 infusions per year.  After the first infustion at about 9 months out from surgery, I have never needed another.  They doctor's and staff do not know everything!

As for the sweets-------STOP THAT!!!!
