Friday Roll Call
It's been a very busy day since I got to work.
Then I see the message from Val looking for a buddy to share a room in Houston. I called her and checked into it.
I AM GOING TO HOUSTON WITH HER!! YAY!! ANOTHER FUN TRIP FOR ME.
Taking a long weekend to enjoy Houston besides the conference.
Crystal, your working that band aren't you? Congrats on your weight loss.
Nancy, hope you are feeling better with the iron transfusions.
Dawn, enjoy your hubby on this anniversary.
Tomorrow I will be away in Michigan City.
Wishing everyone a great weekend whatever your plans are.
Hugs,
Lucy

Congrats on weight-loss and living life, all!
I'm still a bit confounded as to why I haven't lost much since surgery. This is the end of the third week. 275 - 265 = 10 pounds. Well, maybe that's an OK rate. Not sure. Nut has given me no guidance on this. Not sure who to turn to for guidance on weight-loss goals.

Hi
I am curious as to what you are eating.
You made some reference the other day to eating almost 1,000 calories a day and I know I did not each that much this early out but still managed to get 100 g protein. It can be done if you carefully choose your foods for the best protein value. I would be happy to give you some ideas as well as other members of the board. We are all here to help and support. If you are not getting that from your nutritionist or doctor, feel free to ask us!

Thanks for your feedback. On Monday, I'm going to ask my nut about how to reduce the calories while keeping the protein at 100g/day.
Basically, (three weeks out from RNY surgery) I do an 8-oz protein shake in the a.m. followed by breakfast of a 2 oz protein + a 2 oz fruit/veggie/starch choice (I'm supposed to do one of each every day). Then I have a snack, lunch, snack, & dinner on that same pattern. Plus a p.m. shake to up the protein.
I think one big culprit boosting my calorie total is a 1/4 c of a spicy, crunchy nut-based trail mix that I've been using as a snack each day. Oh, do I love it, but, apparently, the nuts are too high in fat (hence calories). So, I've got to stop the trail mix.
Most my other food is FF/LF cheese, Greek yogurt, FF/LF soups, LF meats (tuna, chicken. turkey), and FF/LF beans.
I've decided that I do need to watch calories, despite what my nut says. I think B, L & D must average 200 cals and three snacks must average 100 cal. I'm going to have to get help on figuring out how to keep the fat and carb percentages low each day. They're kinda coming in at 30% fat, 35% carb, and 35% protein.
Very frustrated now with trying to seek help from the nut. She hasn't returned my last call from earlier this week about the calorie total. Odd. I feel like I'm not doing this correctly and she's blowing me off. But, really, this is a phase I need most help with. The post-op food and exercise. Compared to this, prepping for surgery was the easy part.
