Hi - I'm still in recovery mode from my Sept 27 RNY, so am not online as much as I had imagined I'd be post-op. Nice to see everyone cooking along.

I had to get online tonight to search for vitamins/supps and protein supps. I ordered some stuff from vitalady.com. The shipping costs a lot, I'll tell ya. I'm wondering if there are local places to get items like Unjury Chicken Soup protein supplement. My local GNC didn't have it. Is there anyplace online with reasonable prices as well as no shipping costs? You have to hit $300 to get free shipping with vitalady, btw. Feeling very clueless about how people purchase needed protein supps and vites/supps.

Going back to work on Monday. Would have liked one more week off. Have made little progress on anything except the basics of eating and taking a daily walk.

All in all, recovery is going well, but the whole vitamin/supp issue is driving me nuts. My surgeon's program doesn't seem to attend to the vit/supp issue (I'm on Flintstones now), much less the exercise issue. These are two big holes in the NMH program, from my pov. Maybe it gets better at some follow-up appointment.

Because I'm 5'9", I've been directed to eat 80-100g of protein a day. To get there, my calories are hitting 1,000 or more, and the nut said, when I pressed her, to keep it at 1,000 max. So, now I'm stressed out that my eating is hindering my weight-loss opportunity. I'm able to eat a lot and tolerate a lot. I'm on soft foods until January.

Despite all my pre-op prep, I'm still feeling like a serious newbie. Can't wait until this stuff confusing me becomes clarified. Not sure when that's going to happen. I'll call the nut again tomorrow and see if I can get advice for how to hit 100g protein and keep it under 1,000 calories per day.

Sigh. Just feeling tired tonight. See ya later ---

I get my protein from www.bodybuilding.com.  Very reasonable shipping cost and FAST delivery.  They have the absolute cheapest prices on protein that I have found.  They also cary SOME vitamins.  They do NOT carry Unjury though.

I get most of my vitamins from www.vitacost.com.  Regular shipping is a flat $ 4.95 for each order.  They are a bit slower, but very cheap also.

The other site that has flat shipping of $ 4.95 per order is www.netrition.com.  I have never ordered from them, but I have heard lots of good things.  They carry LOTS and LOTS of great protein and low carb items.

Hope this helps a bit.  At first, it all seems overwhelming, but you will get into the groove!

Tell someone that you love them!

Oh, this does help! I always do better when someone makes specific suggestions, and don't do so well when ALL the options in the world are set before me. So, I thank you! HUGS!

Good Evening again.
Lori, I had a sleep apena test done indepentially of my surgeos office. I was having trouble sleeping and my primary doc ordered it for me along with sleeping bills. Since my primary and surgeon belong to the same group it was not a problem as the results were able to be sent from one doc to another. This was done at least 6 months before I had the cardiologist and blood work done for my surgery. I also had the psyc eval 6 months prior. (THAT was so amusing) Apparently different groups use different tests. I had to tell them something that happened on the news the night before and explain the phrase "the grass is always greener on the other side of the fence" Stay strong they just want to make sure you are ok.

Lasolas-i use over the counter medicines. Your surgeons office should tell you which vitamins to take and suggest times to take them. Mine gave me a print out of everything. I just buy me vitamins at Walmart. I have been able to purchase my protein mixes directly from the bariatric program center so far. Some websites suggested for protein mix is www.herbalife.com, www.muscledriver.com, www.vigorousliving.com, www.gnc.com or www.unjury.com. I have never ordered from them but they are recommened by my surgeons office. You may already know of them.

Lucy my sisters Birthday is October 24

Dawn mine and Scotts 5th annivarsy is tomorrow the 14th.

Plus I know 3 other people's whose birthdays are tomorrow also. If I believed in those things they say about numbers I would say that tomorrow would be a very lucky day.

Hope everyone had a great evening.

Thanks for these sites! I'm so used to free shipping from Amazon and Zapos that I think I'll just have to suck it up on shipping costs. Consider all the $ I'm saving on food, eh? :)
