Hi Rachel. Welcome to the IL Board!

I can feel for you having to do a 2 week liquid diet. Ugh!!

Just think of your reward after going through this period. Congrats on holding your own.

This week will fly by for you.

Keep us posted.

Hello everyone

This is so late for me I don't even know if anyone will read it.  But I will post anyway.

Yesterday we did not go to Olive Garden because my sister actually remembered that I can't eat pasta...that was so unselfish of her.  We ended up ordering pizza and staying at the hospital so we can all eat as a family.  My dad enjoyed it too.

Today I went to the hospital to find my dad was is sort of an isolation.  Everyone has to where a gown, mask and gloves when visiting his room.  Turns out he has some kind of infection in his blood.  They don't know excatly what he has...that could take another 24 hours to narrow down.  They have him on Vancomiocyn.  It's just one thing after another...but he's still holding his own.

Well I am going to relax for the first time this weekend.  I'm watching Jaws and eating dinner.

 Hi Crystal

I am going to try this again.  My other post just went poof!

I am glad you got to spend some time with your dad.  Your posting about his isolation brought back memories of my dad being in reverse isolation.  It makes visiting such a pain.  Don't be surprised if they restrict you from bringing things to your dad.  I got chewed out for bringing and ice cream cone back after lunch one day (Dad loved ice cream).  Grrr.  Besides those masks are hot!

The vancomycin should kick that infections' butt.  It is pretty powerful stuff.  I want to share some advice that a doctor gave to us when my dad was sick.  Try not to get caught up in the roller coaster of highs and lows of emotions.  It is difficult but with so much going on, there is going to seem like so much good happening only to be followed by disaster.  It just creates a lot of stress which does no one good.  Your dad needs you relaxed and happy and not worried.  Fake it until you make it.  I know how tough it is, but you can do it!  Your strength and positive attitude can be contagious.

Hang in there and know that you have lots of prayers and support coming from all of us.  We care about you.  Hang tough!

Hi Crystal. At least your possible dilemma with eating at Olive Garden turned into a family affair and you were able to partake.

Hopefully your dad will turn the corner and get better.

Yes, you need some "me" time for yourself to recharge and get ready for the upcoming week. At least the work week is only 4 days.
